which do u think is better empire greatswords or pistoleers and why.
I prefer pistoliers. Why? My main army is Dark Elves, with their Dark Riders, so I can't help but prefer fast cavalry.
I would say Greatswords because they are good, hard hitting troops to hold down the center of your lines. If you can get the charge in, they do not automatically have to attack last and they can hold the line well. Greatswords can win a battle while pistoliers really will never actually win a battle, at best they will bog down or annoy the enemy. Of course this comparison is a bit like comparing apples and oranges because you are asking which one is better when they both fufill too distinct roles.

greatswords-high strength, good armour save, good LD,and stubborn. You can give them a magic banner. Here is a unit that can hold the centre of your line and diss out the damage. They wont be doing much of flanking,or shock assults, but if you need something that will be able to handle a big block of infantry or maybe a cavalry charge, their it.
pistoliers-some of the best fast cavalry in the game. They can easily harry flanks, damage even heavily armoured infantry foes, and when flank charging not only will they negate a rank bonus but they will be able to do some casualties in the first round. If you want something to hold a line, dont use these, but if you want something that will turn a single combat in your favor through a well timed charge,or harry enemy lines, these are your guys.
Thats the best comparison you can get. Trying to decide which one is better is like asking a marine if he prefers his desert eagle to his M-16.
GS have a high S a 4+ armour save, good WS and are stubborn. while pistoliers are all right and are pretty coll in general, they cant have a musician and only have a 7 Ld, they are probaly going to be fleeing a lot and about 1/2 the time they are gunna keep on fleeing.
I pefer Pistoliers, because they are light Cavalery, and so their are better for some hit and run attacks.
Those two units are totally different. Light cavalry and heavy infantery.. totally different uses.
I like the idea of armorpiercing fast cavalry, thats for sure!
Yeh, you can't compare these two very different units.
ulthkan, who do you play against, it will help us decide
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
So far in games ive proxied both in the same army. The greatswords hold the centre of my army, while the pistoliers flank enemy forces. They both do really well at their assigned rolls.
