    Huntsmen

What is wrong with Huntsmen...It doesn't seem like anyone takes advantage of the Empires only skirmishing unit

    Normal archers skirmish too.

The problem is the 10+ unit size. It is not only a large investment of points, but it makes it quite hard to deploy them as scouts.

the only way I take them is as a detachment.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.

wait, if i take them as a detachment i can have less than 10 and still have them scout?

if huntsmen dont work, is there anything at all taht the empire can use as a really effective march blocker?

    Sorry,

I meant archers. I should have been more clear.

Huntsmen can't be taken as a detachment.

Before the new Empire book came out Huntsmen were almost an automatic choice as 5 or 6 huntsmen could easily be deployed anywhere on the board and were excellent march blockers.

However in a move that could be described as 1) a lazy shortcut, 2) "make things more consistent and less confusing" and/or 3) "too many people are using Huntsmen"; the writers of the new book increased the minimum unit size for Huntsmen to 10 models.

As has just been described, Huntsmen just are not worth it at unit sizes this large.

    Too bad.
