First off, I wanted to ask, what's the normal gap between Votewars? Weeks? Months? Or does someone just have to be willing....
Anyway, something I was thinking about for the next VW was running it more like a Tourny. So, everyone has 6 matches, and we'll use a points system.
The points system is also based on votes, so there will be 2 parts to the votes. 1st, who win win, the also by how much, in terms of Minor, Major, Massacre etc etc... (something to be refined) As we run the points system, we keep a leader board in another post.
Another thing to consider, since it's tourny style, is whether match ups are random, or if they are seeded after round 2 (If an army scores a massacre, he'll play against someone else that scored a massacre, etc...)
Maybe even think about comp scores? Dunno about that one...
Anyway, sorry to post so hastily, just had this ticking in my head...
lol, seems a little early, considering we have yet to finish this one.
Usually there's a couple of months between VWs, and any special themed one (like this) is followed by a generic 2K VW-format thing (think what we had after Pool play).
Though if you want to have a go at a tourney-style VW, go ahead. Just know the surprising amount of organisation required to do a good job.I'm retiring from running VWs from now on.
Well, I'm on this site everyday as it is, so I could easily run one, though I'd need modly approval first.
Anyway, I just wanted to throw it out there, rather than throw it out there in 2 months.
Im always up for another vote war.
But I cant reliably be on the site to run it.
I'd like to see a 1999pts votewar.
Also, I really don't think further votewars shoud have seed lists.
I know a lot of thought goes into them.
I know that sometimes there are an odd number of armies and they are needed to make it fair in double elimination.
Its a little frustrating when your taken out by a faceless enemy.
Im not just crying sour grapes here.
I wouldn't want a list that could potentially beat mine, be knocked out by a list that has so far been uninvolved. Votewars are about finding the "best" list created amongst the group of players who enter. Seed lists dont enter into this as they cannot win.
Tournament system sounds good.
The tale of gamers format was great, but it seemed to be a bit tough on the organisers.
Who still did a very good job.
A set points, round robin and then maybe a seeded draw like a football tournament.
Like you've suggested, shouldn't be too difficult.
I'd be up for helping set it up.
The big mystery behind the SEED lists is revealed:
Take a look at the VW MkIII- see if any lists are familiar.
But yes, the organising of this thing was obscene. Once we got out of Pool Play though, things weren't so bad.
