Why is everyone just reserving spots without posting characters? Is it like some game of chicken in which no-one wants to enter a character first for fear of having other characters tailored to beat yours?

Personally, I'm just waiting for fluff. I'm entering either Sir Cumference or Xuanzhong.

well, first we reserve to make sure we get a spot, then we retreat to our underground lairs to plot the enemy's demise.

and make our characters.

Probably, but honestly I am probably not the right person to try creating new equalisers for the lower caliber lords/hero's in order to fit in the Chaos and Vamp lords and stuff. We all saw (or most of us) all the revisions I kept having to make with the last one, and that was mostly just letting skinks and goblins have extra points.

This is a good warning though, because if people jump on the bandwagon fast enough, spots will start being given away starting with #1. Just to let you guys know.

New question: do the armies have to be GW published, or can we use cathay?

I'll still wait for the fluff, but if it looks like my spot may be in jeopardy (being #5 is not bad), I may have to randomly pick one of said two.

I don't think I will allow prizes from other arenas. I'm not allowing prizes from other arena's because I don't want to have to keep track of them all

Also, no unofficial armies. I understand that sticking to the standard Arena format may seem boring, but even the most seemingly balanced fan-created armies have nowhere near the experience or amount of time playtesting that goes into a GW army. I prefer to stick to the tried and true.

Exarch Thomo and I are still working on fluff. But I am pretty sure it will be something simple that you could adjust any character to without much difficulty.

Also, I will not be doing challenges, I think it keeps things a bit more fair to keep it random (even though I realize both players are agreeing to it). If there is an overwhelming want for challenges, then I may be convinced to add them.
