skaven or goblins???

I have begun to collect both skaven and orcs and goblins. I have found models and rules which i love in each army but am undecided about which army to take to a larger size. One of my armies will reamin at 1000 points while the other i will expand to 2400 points. Trouble is-i have no idea which army would work better at these 2 very different point sizes. Ant advice/help anyone could offer would be very useful.

But Skaven have Warp Lightning Cannons.

Its a tough call, as both armies do quite well at 2.4k.


1. Where greenskins can drown the table with (sneaky) casters, skaven magic is more destructive.

2. Both armies are diverse enough, to be created the way you want ( fluff or otherwise ).

3. Skaven are superior in the leadership department, thanks to their "extra ranks".

4. Orc and goblin models, seem to have more "character", but both armies leave you painting up a -ton- of minis.

5. Both armies have really good characters, "named" and generic.

6. Both armies, have units, that are prone to "failure" ...

7. The classic greenskin "in-fighting", really bites your lists in the backside. Most players don't bring them to tournies anymore, which is a real shame ...


The skaven do have one "major" advantage, though, and it falls upon their warpstone weapons. They count as "magical" attacks, so they can defeat ethereal creatures pretty easily ... Plague censers and poisoned wind globes, are perfect against vampires!


Both armies are a joy to play, really.
