    Garstroph Bladetear The Usurper
    Chaos Lord
    M4 WS8 BS2 S6 T6 W6 I5 A5 LD9
Garstroph is a Level 2 Sorceror of Tzeentch.
    Equipment:
    Luna (Hand Weapon)
    Agony (shield)
    Star Corset (Armour)
    Shroud of Shadows (cape)

    Special rules :

LUNA was forged by Tzeentch itself, crafted from Moon Stone.
Luna has a bound spell. Starfall : Stars fall from the sky, smiting the Foe's of whoever posseses Luna.
Starfall causes 3D3 S4 hits (use one of those circular template things) 24" range. No LoS required.
Luna also grants ASF and + 1 Strength.

AGONY. A shield crated by the finest Daemon Smiths in the Old World. It contains the soul of the ancient Bloodthirster, Raq'nuel.
Agony provides a 4+ rmour save.
If unleashed, Raq'nuel, will attack all around him, on a roll of 1, Raq'nuel hits Garstroph. One released Raq'nuel stays out until Garstroph dies.
Raq'nuel has 4 Attacks and has Strengh 5.

Star Corset : Crafted from star metal by the Smithy's of Tzeentch itself, the Star Corset is an unbelievable site.
Star Corset grants a 4+ Ward Save and a 4+ Amour Save. It also grants Imunity to Poison and Killing Blow.

Shroud of Shadows : Crafted with fabric plucked from Space itself, the Shroudof Shadows is an immense object.
At the expense of 1 Wound Shroud of Shadow grants Garstroph the FLY rule for a single turn.

    Mark of Tzeentch.
Every Turn not in combat Garstroph loses 1 wound.
    1+ Armour save + a 3+ ward.

    Background:
Andrew McEvoy, once a traveler from the Empire, was traveling North, he soon felt the pull of Chaos, and ended up in the Chaos Wastes.
This soon drove him mad. He was soon captured by trolls, they tortured him dayly, he pray to every god he had ever heard of, he eventually turned to the Chaos Gods, onlt Tzeentch Answered.
He made a Daemonic Pact with Tzeentch, selling his soul for raw power.
All of his Empire herritage was lost, he became known as Garstroph, he brutally murdered all in his way, sacrificing them to his patron God, Tzeentch, for without these sacrifices, he would slowly lose al his powers, and become mad.
Although unlike many Warriors of Chaos, he still feels remorse, and for everything he kills, he sheds a tear, hence his name Garstroph "Bladetear", some say he has to swim through an Ocean of Tears, just to get to his next victim. Overthrowing countless Lords and Kings he quickly became known as The Usurper, he took all of they're armour and weapons, everyday, without asacrifice he becomes weaker.

How many points should he be ?

I am working on a choas lord called Lucian of Alvanoc, Lord of Hate, Champion of Malal

"And no man looked to Malal then, save those that serve that which they hate, who smile upon their misfortune, and who bear no love save for the damned. At such times as a warrior's heart turns to Malal, all Gods of Chaos grow fearful, and the laughter of the Outcast God fills the tomb of space . . . "

Lucian was born as a peasant but as a young boy served Gabriel Baron of Alvanoc as his squire. The Baron saw Lucian's poetential and as the boy grew he began to train the boy in arms. When Lucian was 14 a great horde of greenskins attacked Alvanoc as had never been seen before. Gabriel summoned his knights and called the peasnats to battle and took to the field. The Horde was generaled under a fearsome black orc Tharg BoneSmasher. Thargs army was huge and began to smash the brettonian army apart Gabriel was struck down by the mighty warlord. Lucian seeing his Lord in trouble rushed to gabriel's side and with a mighty roar rammed his short sword into Thrags stomach mortally wounding the huge ork. The greenskins seeing their general defeated began to panic and retreat. After this day Gabriel knighted the young Lucian

Lucian became a great brettonian champion competeing in all the great tournaments winning him and Gabriel great riches.Gabriel tried many times to wed Lucian to many women of noble birth but Lucian loved only one woman. A young girl named Catharine who had been born a peasant who Lucian wanted to make his bride.

While Lucian was at a tournament choas mauraders raided Alvanoc and took Catharine away with them on their long boats. When Lucian returned he confronted Gabriel demanind to know why he had not protected his fiance. Gabriel stated that it was not worth losing noble knights for the sake of a peasnat girl. Lucian became enraged accusing Gabriel of using him to line his own pockets. Lucian demaned that he be allowed to take some troops to pursue the mauraders. Gabriel refused stateing that there were girls more suited for a gentlemen such as he. Lucian stormed out of the castle and took his retainers and as many man that he could tempt with gold into the northern wastes.

Lucian tracked the maurders down to their camp of the shores of the nortern wastes. Lucian led his force into a brutal attack on the maurders with savage fury demanding that no prisoners be taken. The ground ran heavy with blood. After the slaughter had eneded. Lucian searched the tents and found his beloved catharine. She had been raped burnt and branded by the sick denzins of choas her face had been flayed and her back whipped. Lucian let out a roar of anguish and put his beloved out of her misery.

Luican was overcome with despair and depression. Unable to lift himself from his bed such was the magnitude of his greif. After many weeks the greif turned to hatred.Hate for Gabriel and the nobles which had oppressed him since birth. Hate for the maurders who had taken his beloved away. Hate at the injustice and the sickness of humanity but most of all Lucian hated himself becasue he was unable to protect her.

Late one night in the castle of Alvanoc Lucian was sitting on the rampart his greif and self loathing reaching its zenith he decied that he would end his life. At this moment the god Malal the 5th god of choas appereard to Lucian and offered a bargain. That if he would serve him that he would get rid of his despair. Lucian the desperate fool agreed to become his servant. Malal cut out Lucian heart and replace it with the heart of deamon. The deamon heart filled itself with Lucian hatered feeding of his pain and suffering and making him stronger. The deamon heart knew how to channel this hatred SLAUGTHER.

Lucian stalked the castle killing everyone within it the woman the children and great feast of destruction. Lucian left Alavanoc that evening and was never seen again.
    ----------
    Rules for Lucian

Basicly a standard choas lord but with a couple of magic items.

    Heart of Malal
Lucian is sustained by the heart of Malal the god of hatred. The deamon in his body feeds of his emotional suffering and enable him to channel it into combat prowess. Lucian has hatred for all things.
Lucian has the hatred speacial rule no matter who he fights.

    Winner of the Grand Tournament
Lucian was a great fighter in the tournaments in his youth and is a master of single combat
In challenegs Lucian add +1 to his weapon skill and his initaitive

    Hated by the Unholy 4
Malal is regared by the other 4 gods as an upstart and brutal even by their standrards. For this reason is not affected by the eye of the gods special rule

    Lucian as Lord
If you take Lucian then he must be your armies general and you are forbbiden to take any marks of Slannesh. It was Slannesh Maurders who killed catharine.

    Points cost recommendations?

    Whatfruit,
That character doesn't seem overly powerful at all, and is well balanced. Most of the similar characters in the Armybook are about 400-425pts. I'd run this guy at 415, which is probably a hair high mathematically speaking, but it's leaning in on the side of caution. It's better to handicap yourself with your own special character, than to cripple your opponent.

    RabitShadow,
    try again please.

I remember one guy once played using the UNDEAD with a special character of Lord Soth, the Death Knight that appears in the DragonLance novels.

And I have heard of someone converting stats for the Lord of The Nazgul from LORD OF THE RINGS as well.

There is a thread for special characters...

    Garstroph Bladetear The Usurper
    Chaos Lord
    M4 WS8 BS2 S6 T6 W6 I5 A5 LD9
Garstroph is a Level 2 Sorceror of Tzeentch.
    Equipment:
    Luna (Hand Weapon)
    Agony (shield)
    Star Corset (Armour)
    Shroud of Shadows (cape)
Why S6 and T6? Chaos Lords as standard are S5/T5 so seems a little high.

Hmm - firstly what is the level of the bound spell? I would make it 4+. Granting ASF and +1 Strength is obscene, on his already obscene profile. He is now ASF S7 with a magical weapon. I would also make the star-fall a requires LOS and cannot be cast into combat or when the bearer is in combat...

You are giving the character the potential for 4 additional S5 attacks. So in a single turn you could have him with 5 S7 attacks ASF and 4 S5 attacks. That is a LOT. S5 is not going to damage this fella either, really...
I would lose the shield TBH...especially as he already has one item of magical armour

Star Corset : Crafted from star metal by the Smithy's of Tzeentch itself, the Star Corset is an unbelievable site.
Star Corset grants a 4+ Ward Save and a 4+ Amour Save. It also grants Imunity to Poison and Killing Blow.
I would go with eitehr it grants a ward, OR regeneration OR immunity from poisons or Killing Blow. Any two of these would result in a magical item worth much points especially with a 4+ armour save combined with a magical shield that also grants a 4+ armour save so combined he gets 1+ armour save...

Shroud of Shadows : Crafted with fabric plucked from Space itself, the Shroudof Shadows is an immense object.
At the expense of 1 Wound Shroud of Shadow grants Garstroph the FLY rule for a single turn.
    This is nice...

    Mark of Tzeentch.
Every Turn not in combat Garstroph loses 1 wound.
Why? Mark of Tzeentch doesn't force the Chaos Lord to be in combat?

    1+ Armour save + a 3+ ward.
Ok, confirmed based on teh above items - still obscene.

Note a really compelling background, what was he in teh EMpire? A weakling? A Warrior? Archaon was a templar, a mighty warrior of Man, before he became a Chaos champion. What was this guy? Why did he end up in teh Chaos Wastes? Why were Chaos Trolls torturing him rather than just eating him?

How many points should he be ?
I would reckon somewhere of teh order of 800 points, just because he has 2 magical items worth AT LEAST 100 points..LUNA and the Star Corset. I don;t like the "lose a wound automatically" each turn nonsense. Perhaps each game turn he does not inflict a wound upon the enemy, or a friendly model (giving him the option of killing his own warriors as sacrifice), he loses a wound?

  7. #17

Ok dude. This character I think is very much a daemon without much control at this point. Flickering slowly out of the mortal world with this wound thing. I too agree that the saves are ridiculous. The loosing 1 wound for not being in combat.

Ok, that stat line and the sorcery thing. Is he supposed to be good at combat and average at magic? That base line I would make him 350points. I don't own the WoC Army book so I can't judge that.

That is stupid. ASF & +1S is ok for a single item. Add that bound spell without LoS then you have an amazing item. It is 3-9 S4 hits. I think power level 5. I wouldn't mind it if it was just one of the 2 but now that is a 60 point magic item or close to that.

Nice, if this is to connect with the wound loss I would make this also lose him a wound each turn active when it activated. This would be instead of the roll of a 1.

That is also 60 odd points. I wouldn't mind this if it didn't have the armour save as well. That makes the guy almost invulnerable with the shield. I like the idea that he loses wounds each turn to remove this armour advantage.

    That doesn't sound too bad.

Firstly, I am pretty sure that is not what the Mark does. Rename it please. Secondly I would make it that each turn he loses a wound and then make him regain any unsaved wound he deals in close combat. That would make things much nicer.

Currently I wouldn't give him a point value right now. If I could rewrite these and see how you like it then. That would make me happy.

Whatfruit - I think that is a very balanced character. I would make him 425 points and give him some kind of magic great weapon.

I was looking around the GW website at the collectors models and saw the old Krell model.

Krell was a Khorne champion who fought Sigmar in the earliest days of warhammer before being defeated at Karak Kadrin. Krell was later resurrected by Nagash to lead his legions.

The krell which I have created for below is created along this line of Fluff.

“Orgon knew he was close, he could feel the dark gods guiding his steps as he walked down the river Reik.

Orgon had been a lowly pathetic wizard with limited power who was scorned by his contemporise. He was weak snivelling man quick to anger but a coward. A few days ago he had been approached by a mysterious stranger who told him that “his soul could be key to great power. Orgon the coward that he was questioned the stranger asking him what he meant by his statement.

The stranger replied “follow the river Reik downstream until you come to the town of Miasonburg, here you will find a cave. Inside the cave there will be a fine suit of ornate armour. Place the armour upon your body and you will receive power eternal”

Orgon had packed up his belongings that night and set off following the flow of the river Reik. Now he could feel the power calling to him. He had passed Miasonburg at dawn and knew he was close to his treasure.

Orgon found the cave like the stranger had told him he would. Orgon became excited at the power that was within his grasp. The armour was inhabitated by an ancient Skelton which should have crumbled to dust long ago. As Orgon reached out to take the helmet from the skeltons head the hand shout out and grasped his wrist.

“have you come to free the great power” the skelton intoned

    “yes” screamed Orogon

“At last after all these centuries, a Soul has come to release from my prison” the skeltons moved with such speed and velocity that it buried itself into orgon mouth and ripped out his tongue.

Orogon was terrified as the skelton stood to it full majesty and lifted its great axe and cut off his head. Krell had awoken and he was ready for war

    M WS BS S T W I LD
    4 5 0 5 4 2 6 8

    Equipment
Axe of Krell , Armour of Krell, The Tounge of Orogun

    Axe of Krell
This weapon was given to Krell when he was a mortal man by the Blood God himself when he was his champion.
The weapon confers a +3 strength bonus.

    Armour of Krell
Krells Armour was also given to to him by the Blood God himself fashioned from a plate of his own armour. The Armour counts a chaos Armour and has a magic resistance of (1)

    Tounge of Orogun
The tounge is held by your general and it is this tounge which sustains Krells undead form. If your genral is killed then Krell will crumble to dust.

    Special Rules
Krell cannot be your general this is due to the fact that Krell is an undead killing machine and has no brains. Also Krell is sustained by Orgons tongue.

    roughly 250pts

Erm, Krell was either a living warrior who faced off against the mortals, a great Chaos Warrior, or else a Wight Lord resurrected from a Chaos champion by Nagash. After Nagash was defeated by Sigmar, Krell led a wing of teh army on a rampage, but I believe he was defeated and finally entombed at Glacier lake - will checkmy Undead book tonight.

Some half-wit wizard is unlikely to have awoken Krell, it was the Lichemaster Kemmler who re-animated the Wight King...

Who do you think is the mysterious stranger?

You clearly know far more about the fluff than me. I was just trying to present rules that would allow you to field a Krell in a chaos warriors army. Krell fled with Kemmler back to the grey mountains. What happens after that is unknown. (at least to me)

I may rewrite my fluff. I was thinking of Krell being in an army against a band of Chaos warriors with a Chaos Sorcerer who senses Krell's spirit wishing to join the ranks of the dark gods again. So the sorcerer binds Krell to him making Krell promise to serve him. Krell agrees but when the Sorcerer breaks Krells bond with Kemmler (please dont hurt me) Krell cuts the Sorcerer’s head off and keeps it allowing him to act on his own volition. Krell heads for the northern wastes were he finds the first tribe of Khorne worshipers and turns their chieftain into dog chow.

Krell declares himself Cheiften and begins to amass an army to wage war upon mankind again. This time Krell will be the warlord and all who stand before him will be sacrifice to the Blood god. After 2000 years of service to lesser beings Krell will be master of all.

Krells stat line in this form would be

    M WS BS S T W A I LD
    4 7 0 5 5 3 5 7 9

    Special Rules
Eye of the Gods, Will of Chaos, Khorne's 1st

    Items
    Axe of Blood God
This axe is made from a sliter from the Blood Gods own axe it confers +3 Strenght to the weilder. Attacks are also Magical

    Armour From the Blood God
This armour is made from the bronze plates of the Blood god's armour. It is chaos Armour and provides a magic resitance of (2)

    The Head of Morkai#
This Sourcer freed Krell from the Lichemaster Kemmler. The head still radiates magical energy.
Krell genrates a single dispell dice for his sides dispel dice pool.

    Khornes first
Krell was one of the first Chaos Champions of Khorne and has been offering sacrafice to the blood god for over 1000s of years. Once per game Krell may call upon the Rage of the blood god. This allows all Khornate troops to declare 4'' charges after normal movement for one phase only. (e.g 12'' charge for Khorne marked infantry troops on the turn this is used.)

This Krell is signifacantly tanked up then the other one who is meant to be a hero this is more of a lord choice so im pricing around 450pts.

The idea behind this Krell is him coming full circle and returning to do what he does best which is simply killing. No pretention of conquering the world, No grudges or being used as a tool for snivling wizards and petty necromancers (patrons of Tzeentch no doubt). No Krell is back doing what he likes doing best. Killing in the name of the Blood god.

P.S in my orginal fluff the wizard did not resurect Krell. Krell merely needed a sacrafice to revive him.
