I like doing the reports. It is nice to be able to go back and examine the game to see what went right and wrong. Often that is hard to see while in the middle of the game. So I do the actual report for myself. The posting is for the community. I know I like to read them(mostly just the ones of armies I play but sometimes others) and I try to at least say thanks to the poster. Just that little bit of recognition goes a long way. Thanks to all the posters, I will try to do another one as soon as I can get another game in.

Awesome battle report mate, really enjoyed it.

Being honest here I think that you would of been very hard pressed to beat daemons with that style of army. The units that you took are made for getting into combat, doing collateral damage to your opponent and watch them break due to mass CR in your favour, but like us daemons wont be running anywhere and that's where this army will falter. Don't get me wrong, if you took this list and played against any Elves, empire, etc you would of had a field day running over them. Daemons do not like it when they come up against tarpits and get flanked charged, they'll crumble about as fast as we would. A nice big block of skellie Warriors would of done the trick here I think. If this was my list and I wanted to make it abit more "all comer" friendly this is what I would do.

    Drop
    - Heirotitan
    - Unit of Carrion
    - Unit of 3 Chariots
    - Tomb Herald

    Added
    - 6 Horse Archers w/ standard (Replace Carrion)
    - 5x Archers to unit (Making it 15)
    - Unit of 40 Skellie Warriors w/musician & Standard (5x8 Formation)
    - Tomb Prince (Armour of Slivered Steel, GW), goes into Skellie Warriors
    - Unit of 21 Tomb Guard w/Full Command, HW/S, Banner of the Undying Legion (7x3 Formation)

    Modified
    - Add one Chariot to unit (making it 7), drop the champion
    - Dropped the Knights down to 4
    - TK, Dropped the magic Shield and Weapon, give him armour of destiny and a mundane GW

Against Daemons (and prolly Dwarves) i'd rather have as many foot troops as possible and play the "war of attrition", using our magic to restore wounds while grinding them down.

I hope you appreciate the feedback.

    Nice battle definetly.

I play Demons sometimes and must say pretty much everything in that list i concider competitive, so its good practice for the Tomb Kings.

What i like is the good performance on the Necropolis Knights. They look awesome and if they also have potential, i should definetly have a look into playing them.

Thanks for the Batrep. have some rep back :p

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the fantastic BatRep. Haven't read one so well presented in a long time - makes me really miss the old days of WD when their BatReps were layed out like this.

    Please keep them coming!

Man I haven't really ever paid attention to this forum. Awesome details for the battle.

I play TK very often and enjoyed to see how a list did w/ models I don't normally take.

My advice for the list, drop the hw/shields on the TG and get Halberds. Umm... Run multiple units of 4 chariots each to maximize impact hits. Multiple ranks of chariots are clunky, and lose impact hits. Also, you made the change that you needed by adding archers to Khatep. I normally do 20 myself but 15 works.

I like the advice of the skelli block. That really hurt your TK battle imo. I usually keep Khateps unit behind the giant tarpit and I have yet to lose him.

All in all, nice read. I read every word and enjoyed it. If I would have saw this back in April, I would have commented but I never did.

OH! And one more thing. Ditch that crappy herald! Waste of points! **OH you did my bad

It was a great battle rep. But as a tomb king player I can only say your army was the best vs deamons.

Things like carrions was nice in 7ed, but in 8ed they can only fly 10" (they can't march) so the suck.
As people say Herald is a wasted of points.
Drop the FC on units standard is the only good thing for undead how cares for a extra attack WS 2 str. 3... waste of points.

Against demons just take a lvl 4 lich and 1 or 2 lvl 1 with light spell take the gaze 2d6 str. 4 hits at casting on +5 (aganist demons) your lvl 1 so only a 4+ is needed!

Heirotitan is great!? The light magic spell would do 2d6 str. 4 hits at bound lvl 3! against demons and the +3d to casting rolls are just too good! This means that you lichs with gaze spells only need to roll 3+! With a bit of luck you could do with 2 liches and the titan 3x 2d6 str. 4 hits a turn with only 3 power dices (just need to roll a 3 because 2 or lower is a auto fail)!

Always go for 2 big blocks of archers 20-30 mininum.! They great to hide casters in and can shot and fight as "good" as any warrior unit.

But army aside if you got more shooting and magic than you opponent why are you running your units in to charge range! Just stay back and shot him up a bit and move you units so you get the favored charges.
