Morning all,

During a period of pure boredom today I came up with some rules, based on the 40K vehicle design rules with which you can create any monster you wish (within reason). If it gets too confusing I will show you my Greater Deamon of Khaine (for dark elves) at the end, to show how it all works.

Please note that these may only be used by the following: Dark elves, High elves, wood elves, moulder based skaven, lizardmen, chaos (of all forms), Campire counts, Tomb kings, possibly bretonnians but you need a good fluff for them, orcs and gobbos, Dogs of war.

Dwarfs and empire cannot use these rules, however if I get a good responce from these creatures I will create a vehicle design chart. If there are any armies which I have forgotten which you believe have every right to have big beasties, then post your thoughts and I will agree/disagree as the case needs.

also please note that for the moment at least these creatures may not be ridden and may not join units or characters.

Finally please note: THESE RULES ARE NOT AT ALL TESTED AND ARE IN NO WAY OFFICIAL, FEEL FREE TO TRY THEM OUT AND REPORT BACK TO ME AND WE CAN SEE WHERE THEY GO FROM THERE.

to start with there are three different template monsters which are as follows:
----------------------M---Ws---Bs---S---T---W---I---A---Ld
Ogre sized:-----------6----3----2---4---4---3---2---3----7

Dragon sized:---------7----4----2---5---5---6---3---5----7

Massive sized:--------9----5----2---6---6---8---5---8----8

ogre sized creatures cause fear, dragon and massive sized creatuers cause terror and are large targets. Ogre sized creatures take up 2 rare slots, Dragon sized creatures take up 2 rare and one hero (might change this to two hero) slots. Massive creatures take up 3 rare and a lord.

as I say, these are just templates therefore it just means that anything with 40x40 base is agre sized, anything with 50x50 base is dragon sized and anything 100x100 is massive.

this is the stat increases:

----------------------M----Ws----Bs----S----T----W----I----A---Ld
Ogre sized:----------+5----+7----+2---+10--+25--+50--+2--+18--+10

Dragon sized:--------+10---+14---+2---+20--+50--+75--+5--+30--+10

Massive sized:-------+10---+28---+4---+50--+65-+100-+10--+50--+10

if you want duplicates of any stat then just add them up. ie an ogre sized creature who wants 2 extra points of movement (giving it a total movement of would pay +10 points. No stat may be raised above 10, and if anyone finds a sneaky loop hole which allows them to do so then they are called smelly people and the stat is reduced to 10 (ie under no circumstance does any stat go above 1.

This is the special abilities:

----------------flying--terror--breath weapon--armour save--ward Ogre sized:------+30-----+30---------+15-----------+15-------+25

Dragon sized:----+60-----------------+20-----------+20-------+35

Massive sized:---+90-----------------+25-----------+25-------+45

as you can see, only ogre sized stuff can have terror, as the others already cause terror, the breath weapon, armour save and ward saves work the same way as the stat increases with the following defferences:

The breath weapon is bought per point of strength, ie 15 points gets you a strength 1 breath weapon for an ogre sized creature, 30 points gets you strength 2 etc, this may go up to, but not beyond, strength 10.

Armour saves work the same way (ie 15 points gets you a 6+ save, 30 points gets you a 5+ save etc) this may go up to, but not beyond, 2+.

ward saves are exactly the same but cannot go above 4+.

Please give me any feed back on these rules and I will adapt them as I feel is correct.

This is my Avatar: Greater Deamon of Khaine.

Dragon sized: 300, +6 weapon skill: 154, +7 initiative: 35, +1 attack: 30, +4 Leadership: 40, 2+ armour save: 100, 4+ ward save: 105.

this come to a total of 764pts. You will notice that this is quite a bit more than a bloodthirster, and it would get kicked in by a bloodthirster. This is very deliberate so that people can't just make huge beastie monsters for 500pts which will destroy everything.

If you think that these rules are absolute rubbish, feel free to express your point, but no flaming or other insulting things.

Thank you for your time.

There is now a rules development forum, so you can put it in there.
To Stop super powerful creatures may I suggest that every time you buy a stat increase the next time you buy it, it is more.
For example the fist time you buy +1Ws (for ogre sized) It costs 5 points, maybe the next time it should cost 10, then 15 etc. To discourage people who would make an all stats 10 super monster.
