Oh, so you want the easy and simple to explain option now, eh? Well that will be just easy and simple to explain, won't it.

Yes VQ is right. That would be pretty easy to do.

One issue with random lists and random players is that many players don;t have all the books - I certainly don;t (I have precisely 2 books in fact....High Elves and VCs..) so you could exclude a lot of players imply by allocating an army they know nothing about.

It looks as though people are trying to suggest some type of "comp-score" votewar. If that is the case it sounds fine to me but I don't think that a blanket "No Lord" will be fair. I could build a hard Daemon list using only Heralds but I think it would be difficult on armies that rely on their Lord more. Maybe some type of total point limit on characters or a certain percent of the army as Core or something along those lines. Although, on a whole, I don't think that comp scores ever really even out the playing field. They just ban the most "broken" things so that the second tier now becomes the "broken" tier.

Well, while I'm not terribly thrilled with the idea of simply saying "No Lords", since where would that leave armies like Tomb Kings...

...having different points would make things more interesting, I would think, though I'm hoping to see 3.5k just for fun and giggles. :3

I would say that we could use the Arena of Death limits in Votewar for individual characters, as there is no concept of "minimum points value" in each bucket for troops etc, or else set the hard and fast max 25% war machines and max 50% characters...

Is there any way we could get a VoteWar folder in the Fantasy section? Like the "Fluff" and the "battle reports"? Having it down here with general off topic will make it easy for people to miss. I wouldn't have paid attention to it if mods didn't place stuff about it in the WE forum.

    2. About the maps and giving a discription of how one would play: This would be fine but if we did this then it would not be based as much on the composition of the lists. If we did let the players tell how they would play, would we have to base our vote on their battle plans? That could totally change a vote, just need to make this all clear before the tournaments start.

Nothing wrong with that approach TBH, set-up and initial opening turn, we could even sya who gets first turn, and teh person getting first turn states their opening moves, and their opponent states counter moves

I like the no lord 2000pts idea, or even a up to 2250 or 2500 to get some interesting unit dependant armies rather than character dependent. It may hurt some armies more than others so don't take those armies, I see VW's as a chance to play around with armies and lists I normally wouldn't take so if my normally takes a hit with the rules I'll just pick another.

Problem is that Lord choices ARE a part of the game that certain armies need. Skaven can't get a decent Ld without their Lord chocies, nor can human armies, whilst Elven armies can get access to certain killer combos only with a Lord. Without lord chocies, I think you would see armies of Chaos, Chaos Demons, Bretonnians (maybe), Dwarves and perhaps Vampires. Even Lizardmen aren't immune, Col Blooded only goes so far....and I dread to think how poorly gobbos would fare (though unlikely as VCs also have low Ld that impacts rolls like crumbling..)

You are partly right though the only way we would know for sure is to try it. Is having an experimental votewar a bad thing? I am personally up for something different and hope that others are as well. Variety is the spice of life after all.
