I got a vision of using my troops in rhinos as to deliver the new cheap Greater Daemon, mainly to use my heavily converted daemon prince on rollerskates (no more speed nowadays).
The plan is to convert rhino/rhinos to have a portal in the front for him to pop out of, i'm thinking city fight terrain parts.
I need help to how to set them up, is it 5 man single special weapon (+ naked champ), or 10 man dual that's best? And do i need 2 squads for safer delivery?
I'm probably going to have multiple high priority targets with the new codex, but anyway.
I'm also considering the option to make a portaled Land Raider, but that's many points and a heavy slot. Opinion?
Hmm... the main issue is though if it's going to work at all. Please tell me if it's a bad idea =)
"And that, my liege, is how we know the earth to be banana-shaped"
The basic marine is now the best grunt out there, and the rhino has got it's cost reduced. With the arrival of the new codex, I'm going to make the most of these aspects, making a very mobile and fairly cheap army of basic grunts and just a few other choices, maybe Termies in a Land Raider, and/or the amazing Raptors. By doing that you fill out your army with lots of mobility and naked champions that can get possessed where you want them.
You'll need multiple rhinos for safe delivery and other targets like dreads, DP's, defilers ect... that he would rather shoot at. I say a 10 man 2 melta squad.
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
I think he did answer your question... He didn't say the words greater daemon but he discuss all the possible delivery methods. BTW Terminators can have more than one Champion so you could use that squad delivery method.

The relevant portion of Mr_Wayne's excellent response:
" By doing that you fill out your army with lots of mobility and naked champions that can get possessed where you want them."
As for my opinion, the modeling idea of the portals is a little confusing to me. Are you doing it to represent the demons being summoned or the delivery of the sqauds inside as well. If it is being done for the effect of having a demon pop out of the portal, you are limiting your tactical options to keeping your delivery squads onboard. It seems like a pain to actually play in that manner for a cool modeling idea.
As for just delivering the demon, the main balance point is that since only ACs can carry power weapons/fists, you either have to make a conscious decision to sacrifice that utility to keep them cheap or just live with losing 25 points in upgrades when he pops. I'd probably suck it up and live with the loss since any unit I take into melee had better have a power weapon or fist.

I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
