Quick question on Rhino building... it seems I can't follow directions. In the codex it says it is armed with a combi-bolter... where is this depicted on the model? There is the option for the guy with his head sticking out, just the gun, or the guy arming the gun. Are these all supposed to be the combi bolter or do they represent an upgrade that I will have to purchase if I model it on?
All 3 could be used as a combibolter... I think.
Gareth is the person I try to impress when I convert and paint.
Soooo... anyone know for sure? And while I am on the topic, which vehicle icons are for which gods? I'm having a bit of trouble telling outside of the Khorne and Nurgle ones.
Yes ... essentially.
If you look at most Rhino pictures (art or actual model pictures) that guy sticking out the top with the gun ablazin' would be the combi-bolter option, which comes standard on the Rhino. What's perhaps confusing about that is that the weapon is more of a twin-linked bolter than a combi-anything. That's actually cleared up in the summary in 3rd edition, and in the standard listing in 4th edition (maybe ... since it hasn't been released yet, of course ... yes ...).
Most folks seem to go with the guy holding the gun. On the one Rhino I've completed thus far, I just have the guy poking his head out with the gun just floppin' there in the breeze, because it's a Nurgle vehicle, and he got shot in the head, and is dead ... so can't really man the gun so much. I'm still considering modeling a nurgling on there just to show how it could still indeed fire.
But the gun is the important part. Get that on, and you're set. There are other options that can be purchased, and those would have to be modeled with things that aren't necessarily included on the standard sprues, but otherwise you're set.
And as for the icons: Undivided would be the chaos star with the skull in the middle. Tzeentch is the cross with the skull in the sun on the bottom. Slaanesh is the S shaped one. Khorne is the linear skull face. Nurlge is the one with the three pattern of skulls, circles, and arrows.
Hope that helps.
Rhino in the new codex will be equipped with twin-linked bolter, same as previous.
Take the round hatch-holder thingy with a pintle on and stick a dual bolter (2 halves) from the vehicle sprue on it. It's then up to you if you put a gunner by it or put the hatches on.
If you're handy with green stuff, you could make a mutated tentacle holding the twin bolter instead.
