With the new TAR and TVR rules out there is using rhinos even remotely useful in assaults? I found out while playing my friends world eater army that he rarely had a good assault angle on any of my units and it was really hard for him to get any kind of serious action against my units.
Whilst my DG who have no rhinos easily got into CC and ravaged him...a WE army.
Anyone else had this problem?
Well, I've had good results without Rhinos...I was using my buddy's WE, and I decided to ditch the Rhinos and opt for Talismans, and that went well. There are some cases where Rhinos are absolutely necessary, i.e. using Thousand Sons. I think GW was trying to make Rhinos more specialized. I don't know how it'll work out with my NL, so we'll see. Mad props on playing DG -- they rock. But note that they're MEANT to counter CC heavy armies like WE -- counter-charge, true grit...You were probably absorbing a few of his charges easily and throwing them back in his face.
I still think Rhinos are pretty good- especially for Thousand Sons, as said. They are very fast, and help your troops get into position a lot faster.
Rhinos are essential for any army I feel. Even though it's only a matter of time before they get shot to pieces, but hopefully by then you already got to where you want to be.

The problem with not using rhinos for world eaters is that every army has plasma cannons or their equivalent. They will destroy your infantry with ease. With world eaters this is more of a problem because you have a chance of getting out of the rhino and being shot by ap3 weapons. Also infantry with talismans are basically out of your control. They do whatever they want.
So which do you want? Faster infantry that will be close to peicmeal by the time they get to the enemy line or slower infantry that need to go back to their rhino to cross long distances?
