I was wondering if the new chaos dex make it still possable to run a thousand son heavy army. I like how they look and there bolters and inv save is something that could drive some armies nuts. If i need to I'm thinking I could take 2-3 units of thousand sons and fill in with some CSM so i can have a few cheaper units, but i would like it to be at least a little thousand sons heavy.
When I browsed through the codex and saw the thousand sons entry I thought they were pretty good, but then I saw the price of the aspiring sorcerer and did a double take. (The guy costs as much as four chaos marines and is single wound.) Once I saw him and read that you had to take one with every squad I really couldn't justify taking a squad (well I havent been able to yet.)
The whole putting to many points on a single wound model has been keeping me from giving them a try really.

Bah.. The 1k sons just got way better IMO, yes they cost a heafty bit more than a regular CSM but they are a solid unit. Yes a 1K son army is viable but expensive. The bent of the new dex gives us the ability to branch out from a legion specific army in favor of a multi-faceted warband. truly a chaotic experiance.

You can easily run an all Tsons force if you wish in the new codex and have it be viable. Having everything with a 4+invulnerable save except for your vehicles is very nice.
Its been discussed elsewhere, but if you talk to Tson veteran players the sorcerer is actually cheaper now since most people would put lots of upgrades on him.
Yeah, TSons players would buy Thralls, D.Strength with power weapon, maybe Essence, powerfist at times, psychic powers like Doombolt and BofC, TONS of stuff...
It pretty much could cost up to or higher than a hundred pts, but now they're like seventy or so.
Which is VERY good.

I am very happy with the new TSons. My basic squads have stayed within 5-10 points of their last edition counterparts, and with the reduced rhino prices they are indeed cheaper. Although their abilities have changed, I still feel I get what I pay for with them too!
