    Chaos on Dawn of War

Hey, for those of you that have played DOW, do you think the chaos troops are a bit toned down? I mean, a sqaud with 4 heavy bolters in the table top would shred a unit of firewarriors, but in the game the fire warriors win everytime? Do Relic just have something against Chaos?

No DOW isnt how warhammer is. For instance Orks can out shoot anyone in the game the game is just a Balance of power and such. FOr instance the Stealth suit is weaker than a FW where it should be Vice versa, also Stingwings are Heavy infantry that are good in assault.... Kroot are good at killing heavy infantry and so such... the Baneblade is weaker then the Land raider..... the Hammer head isnt as strong as it should be... there are alot of problems

You think it should be turn-based instead of RTS?

Just think how incredibly unbalanced the game would be if it was the same as 40k. Why would you take shooty units at all? assault marines would just own everything, as would howling banshees. Close combat happens a lot faster in Dawn of War battles.

Also imagine if that single lascannon marine could pop your land raider in 1 shot? that would screw around with an RTS and make vehicles kind of pointless.

A bolter will generally kill an ork in 1 or 2 shots. So 20 marines could theoretically kill 200 orks before the ork player even notices hes under attack.

No, 40k does not work as an RTS, if you want it to be more like 40k you would have to make it turn based and frankly, that would kill it.

The DoW is unfaithful to the tabletop game. plain and simple. I could spent hours apon hours telling you how much B.S. is in DoW.

That doesn't make it a bad game. As Lordlink said, some things just don't work in an RTS situation, and 40k game balancingis one of them. DoW should be enjoyed for what it is, rather than being compared to the taletop game. They're two different things.

I agree... it's pointless to really compare the two, as they are not anywere near eachother, nor are they supposed to.
They did a game (a pretty good game that is) taking a trademark and the fluff, then made it work as a RTS game. I think they have done a very good job at being fairly truthful to the background of the game, and captured some of the most important feelings... Even with Chaos. I even think they did a really good job with chaos...

As welll as that, each race should have a different squad cap to make it even more balanced.

DoW is a RTS game set in the 40k universe. It isn't 40k.

Chaos isn't really toned down, you get invisible space marines...
