How do you prefer your ordinance?

With the new codex we have gained the vindicator as a new option for ordinance. My question is:

Would you rather go with a daemonically posessed vindi

    or

a defiler with 2 extra DCCWs?

    Please post your reasoning!

If I played a static line, then I would use the Vindicator. Its higher armor is missed on the Defiler... The reason I will only use these in static line, is I can hide them at first, and bring them out to break enemy lines once they are in range.

An exception I would make to this rule is if I was playing a lot of Terminator heavy armies.

However since I play an offensive army (and only the occasional deathwing), as most Chaos players do, I take the defilers. The increased range and the close combat deadliness is hard to resist. It has a major psychological power, and at the very least protects my Rhinos. I'm just always prepared to lose them, and if they are still moving, they are devastating. They are versatile, and fun.

Even though the chaos version of the vindicator is far better then the space marine version, its still a vindicator. That means it basically will require the support of most of your army to field it effectively. Thus you'll need a lot of other tanks supporting your vindi(s). Done right, I think it could be a better tank then the defilers.

    Good Luck.

    Hmmm...tough one this.
First the Defiler, a monsterous creation harnessing a bound daemon. Running up the battlefield just with an urge to rip things apart with it's huge metal claws while blasting things and people to smithereens with a huge cannon mounted in it's chest.

Then, the Vindicator. A box with a pipe.

    Defiler.

I'm going to have to go with defilers because of just how much better they look imo and the ability that they can be converted. Plus I think the defilers can be used in more lists because of their versatlity, while the vindicator, although built for certain lists just doesn't have that close combat asset the defiler fills.

I guess the defilers can do more things. While the vindicator is good at only one thing that in many games you don't always need.

But in retrospect it might good to go with 2 defilers and 1 vindiator. Seems like a lot of people are using this combination.

The imagery, flexibility and longer range for the defiler are what seals it for me. The only thing its weaker against is terminators

I'm for Defilers also, mainly because I have some hard feelings for one shot wonders (edit: yes, the way you're supposed to upgrade Defilers they're also sort of one shot wonders, but at least they have their claws), but I had a question:

Why do you give Vidicators Dæmonic Possession? Just to keep them alive longer? It seems like getting that one shot to hit is sort of important... well thanks in advance to anyone who can explain it to me, apparently I'm still slow in the head.

It's just damage prevention, so you don't have to worry about the shaken/stunned cycle. Ignoring 1s on penetration, and 1-3 on glancing is very handy. My Defilers know that.

Since ordnance doesn't use the BS ithere is no disadvantage to taking Possession. Just... point and scatter!

Right, right. I figured the first part, but I forgot that ordnance isn't affected by BS  thanks for clarifying that.
