No they both are garbage.
greater daemons are awesome. lesser daemons suck.
lesser daemons pwn. greater daemons suck.
Both the daemons units not only look kool but their sweet units as well.
Now greater daemons and lesser daemons are not as powerful as they were in our old codex. greater daemons i find are overall better as their a lot cheaper in points but your opinions may differ. lesser daemons seem like crappy close combat marines but they have their uses.
How i usually use mine is i have my berzerkers in rhinos go to the enemy and the lesser daemons come when i am 12 inches or under from the enemy at the beginning of the turn. i summon them 6 inches from the rhino then the rhino moves 6 inches and the berzerkers get out, the berzerkers sit there for this turn but the lesser daemons continue to charge the enemy and tie them up until my berzerkers can sweep up the leftovers. good side about lesser daemons?
- low point cost
- the tactical advantages
- oh no what do i do with these useless daemon models? well now their all lesser daemons
now you guys can go vote on stuff.
I voted in favor of using both daemons. It is pretty obvious to everyone that looks at the stat line and point cost for the greater daemon that it is quite a bargain but the same cannot be said for the lesser daemon. Most people look at them and think, "Why would I pay just a couple points less than a marine for that?"
Let me tell you why! You can get a full squad of 10 daemons with effectively marine stats for around half the points of a tooled up marine squad in a rhino. The best part is that they do not have to worry about slogging it up the board or using a transport, with all of the icons running around these days they can show up exactly where you need them. Another thing that a lot of people don't notice is that there is no "daemonic instability" any more! Once those daemons are there they are sticking around until someone kills them.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!

i'm also in favour of both daemons. the greater daemon, even though it can't fly, is really nice.
the lesser daemons are great, they have marine-like stats and with some luck you can get a decently large squad into charge the turn they arrive, not having to fear being shot down while walking across the board. charge something that isn't all that tough in CC with them, and tie up CC specialists with some of your specialits. Daemons will hold their ground against weaker or smaller enemy units perfectly fine.
Imagine taking 20 lesser daemons in a squad, they're not overly expensive but they will become one hell of a threat once they arrive and start chewing your opponent up.

The great one is just great, however remember the additional cost of the AC.
The lesser ones are not as outstanding but should be of use, especially since I'll be using my old bloodletter models which my opponents still remeber as S5 all PW Sv 3+/5+ beasts.
But I sure miss the old ones, they brought some more flavour.
Yes, I know about the upcomming Codex: Deamons. But as I understand that will be a new Army without any promises of connections to CSM, more like LatD...
BTW are there any good rumor threads about Codex: Deamons?

I've had the great one be quite a terror against me a few games (til I finally got the Libby on it), and when I did take it down, was amazed at how few points it was. What a bargain.
The little ones are not as terrifying, but that ability to just jump down in front of another icon'd squad is very nice indeed.
I am closing this thread on principle.
