Ok this is how i see it. For like 230 points you get an armr 14 all round tank with 2 twin linked lascannons and a twin linked heavy bolter. First of all most of librarium online agree that mixing weapon types is not a good idea so why have an anti swarm gun with an anti tank gun. Next i have to say sure you can move 10 csm or 5 termies but for the same cost you may as well juts put 10csm in a rhino and have the termies deep strike of the icon. Much more cost effective. Sure the land raider has some ok guns but if you move 6 inches you can only shoot a lascannon and the heavy bolter which is not likely to do anything whatever you shoot it at. If you want to get your 200 pt termies into action you move 12 inches in which case you can't shoot any guns. This then means that your 230 pt tank doesnt get a round of shooting. Also armour 14 is suprisingly easy to pop especially since its not a skimmer. I can throw two meltas at it and it is down for the count meaning its passengers normally are entangled are halved in numbers after the inevitable explosion. Appreciate opinions. Maybe i'm not seeing the whole picture.
You say its easy to pop and mention entanglement but recommend a rhino instead? silly.
Also two meltas need to be in range, then hit, then manage a 6 to penetrate with a single shot, odds are against you pal. Land Raiders may be expensive and most of the time not worth it but considering they can let their compartments assault, they have anti tank capabilities AND anti infantry for when the squad inside is just about to charge a target in front of them they seem mighty useful carrying important troops around the battlefield.
Sure theyre no Necron Monolith but they sure pack a punch compared to the weakly rolling sarcophagus known as the rhino.

PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.

Also, you make deep striking termies sound as easy as putting on your pants in the morning. If you have a Heavy Flamer or even more importantly (as mentioned above) a squad of Lightnings Claws'd termies you can't risk giving your opponent the charge.
I also want to emphasize how much you underestimate the ease of bringing down a 14/14/14 vehicle. Even if you somehow get in 6'' for double penetration you won't always penetrate and even fi you do you might not get a devastationg result. It's obviously not impossible it's just less likely that you'll get in range and get a good roll than you make it out to be.
I also like having two TL Lascannons, personally
PS. Congrats on four digits posts Azriel!
Back from the dead to haunt new houses.
Send me a hello if you remember me.
It better be good because I just got one myself - Arrrr!
I'm Got one with another on it's way. Land Riaders are Icon vechiles to the Marines -Both Loyalist and Renagade- and theres a strong reason there Iconic. 2 Twin linked Lascannons ensure a Hit to the enemy. Making it an Exellent Tank.
As a Transport it is amazing as well seeing as it Offers the best protection, and Troops can move and assualt when the disenbark!!!!!! Many People would kill to have that ability in there army.
.....I can keep going if you want me to8X:party2::party:
I made a LOT of use of my pair when i was using my TS (who im now banned from in competative games....). Now, listen to how hard you make them out to be able to kill when used offensively. Most people have fits. Now imagine someone using 2-3 of em.... Defensively!!!
They are a nightmare to kill. I used mine to transport my TS squads about the place, as my army relied on LOS blockage and so on (theres a tactica about it coming soon, about 1/2 of the stuff i want is in it). So i vouch for them very heavily!!!
