Lord w/ demon weapon
Sorceror w/ warptime
Lord or Sorceror? im in a bit of a conundrum as im not sure which is more effective for points. ive played a couple of games with 1 of each and im just ot sure which is more effective?
the two builds that we will be discsing are lord with demon weapon vs sorceror with warptime.
so far it seems that the sorceror is better against characters and that the lord is more effective agaist multi model single wound units.
another choice that clouds my decision is marks.
for example a sorceror with MoT and bolt of change is brilliant and tacticly flexible (in apocalypse flexibility is king)
any thoughts, suggestions or even general coments?
oh ok just for you peole that love em ive included demon princes.
so the big question is now Which HQ
I love Pathfinders.
My primary HQ will always be a Daemon Prince of some kind (marks will vary). I do want a 150+ points model to be scoring, although people tend to put much effort into killing it =)
Another thing i find poor about lord/sorcerer is their low toughness, sure they can dish out some pain due to high Initiative and survive, but they get insta-gibbed too easy.
My opinion is based on a extensive use of the Prince, maybe one have to playtest the Lord/Sorcerer more before judging them...
"And that, my liege, is how we know the earth to be banana-shaped"
On each, this is what i reckon.
I dont think id run a sorcerer without the mark of tzeentch. Being able to use warptime AND his force weapon is just golden. Plus the ability to use warptime in the enemies turn AND your own. They're just so much better.
Ill vote for the DP as well, however. I just love em, and now they're just super cheap. ON top of that, I just love the ficken model. Without Daemonic Speed, ive had to glue on some wings, but why didnt i do this sooner!? A massive set of Dragon Wings look soooo cool! Dunno about the sorcerer models tho, looks pretty strange...unless you use Arhimain's model.
I havent run one yet, but i LOVE the look of lord with daemon weapon...I just cant fit it in the points limit!!! Chaos ALWAYS does that to me...too much damn choice, and cant have everything! Surely you'de run this guy inside a squad tho, to protect him more from insta kill? As for which one, they're all pretty good i reckon, tho Im biased toward Khorne.
If you COULD use a Special Character (I couldnt....to me, it loses the fact that it should be representing myself onn the battle field...), then take you're pick, they're all good!
My 2 cents.
I can see the merits of the first three. My Lord runs with Wings, MoT, and Claws. This allows him to have a decent defense against ID, slaughter troopers, and fly around with Raptors.
My Sorceror is your stock Wings, MoT, and Warptime. Golden unit.
Daemon Princes... haven't made a unit for it, but I'd probably run it with whatever mark, they all have their uses. Maybe a Tzeentch one to represent Illidan... ooh, I feel a conversion coming on... and Kael as a Sorceror... yes, yes, Blizzard may have killed them, but I shall not.
I've fallen in love with the Daemon Prince w/ Mark of Tzeentch, Wings, Warp Time, and Doombolt. Offers great flexibility with a high BS, rerolling ranged weapon, along with a respectable close combat ability. Then, the increased invulnerable save is the best thing towards keeping him alive when the Lascannons start bearing down on him.
I'm not keen on Lords yet. I personally think that for the price of a well equipped Lord, I can pick up something like Kharne or Huron and really lay down the law. The only exception to this I've found so far is the Slaaneshi Lord w/ Daemon Weapon. Quite possibly the best character killer in the game.
Deamon Prince with MoT, wings, warptime seems killer to me. Personally don't like to give him any other psychic powers to keep his points low, but his high strength and toughness with better inv. save and eternal warrior makes him incredibly tough. I am trying hard to come up with some fluff that will explain two Tzeench HQ's leading my mostly death gaurd army. Any ideas?

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. - Douglas Adams
If you want to model them as Tzeentchian, just say the Nurglites are pawns in the Great Plan. Or that the charismatic Tzeentchians have somehow penetrated the hearts of the forsaken Plague Marines and inspired them to follow. Or perhaps the Plague Marines are under the thrall of the sorcerous Tzeentchians.
Or say that instead of being gifted with decaying bodies, these champions were gifted with powerful psychic abilities or something of the like. Really anything can be justified with the new Chaos codex.

I like the Daemon Prince with MoT and wartime with Bolt of Change, you cant go wrong with a str8 AP 1 weapon with 24". then a Chaos Lord with the MoN and the Plaguebringer is awesome too.
My latest choice is a Lord in Terminator Armor w/ Lightning Claws and the Mark of Nurgle, combined with a Slaneesh Sorcerer with lash.
