I'm just wondering when you guys think GW will get around to a FAQ for the new chaos codex, based on how long it's taken them for previous codex's?
Do you think they will do something about Lash of Submission, at present I think it's absolutely horribly broken.
Imagine I'm playing tau; which I often do; against a Chaos player. I have a unit of Stealth suits which work really well for me. I back up to 22-23 inches after a round of shooting, the max I can scoot. On my opponents turn he jumps forward cutting this distance to 10-11 inches, which would normally mean I'm pretty safe but then friggin uses this horrible power to MOVE my guys and now I'm in charge range and theres pretty much no hope for Tau if you've even seen them in CC you'd know what I mean.
God, imagine two of these guys, lashing the same unit you could easily get first turn charge with regular footsloggers! If the target unit got to take a leadership test I think this power would still be good but just automatically moving a unit 2D6 is rediculous. -_-
Er, guess I got away from the point, anyways whats a good time frame to expect a FAQ (and a possible fix for this power)?
Um - that seems completely fair to me. Your army has some advantages, like shoot and scoot, while other armies such as chaos, can augment there relative slowness with items such as the lash.God, imagine two of these guys, lashing the same unit you could easily get first turn charge with regular footsloggers! If the target unit got to take a leadership test I think this power would still be good but just automatically moving a unit 2D6 is rediculous. -_-
Its far more difficult to field anti tank now for chaos armies, so perhaps you should use more tau tanks - which are some of the best tanks in the game.
As for when the FAQ will be released, I'm of course not sure, probably in a month or two - however I except the FAQ to be pretty limited, doubt it will change much. Probably something to the effect of, terminators can fire rapid fire weapons and charge. Steeds might get some clarifications, maybe something confirming the ability to use a force weapon and another physic power with Zteentch dudes.
Honestly I think that people need to stop complaining about LoS. It is NOT an all powerful spell of Cheddar evil that you say it is. Just change your strategy to either prioritize the lash, or something find another way to deal with it.
Thousand Bows (SM)
How about moving those stealth suits up the flank and into a corner? Then the silly chaos chap with the Lash will end up stuck off in the corner killing 3 stealth guys while the rest of you army is unaffected and machineguns all his men? Sounds good to me...
But to answer the question, I doubt you'll see an FAQ terribly soon. That would suggest they had released a book with obvious flaws. I'm not saying they have (I like the new codex) but to produce an FAQ so soon would look pretty bad.

No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
It's just easier to moan and complain than to change tactics accordingly.
First, the power can fail, sure, it's a low chance, but it's happened to me a few times already.
Secondly, the movement rolled could be WELL below the number needed for much of a tactical advantage. (go go 2in. movement!)
Anyhow, with a lot of Tau guns having ranges of 30-72in. you should not have a lot of issues staying outside of lash range. Or as mentioned before, respond with armor.
p.s. - methinks a chaos forum is the wrong place to say chaos is overpowered.
I however, think too many people base their whole army around Lash of Submission. It's a parlor trick, really - one Librarian and its all over, or a mechanized list. There are plenty of ways to get around it. If you're playing Tau and your opponent pulls out a DP with Lash, shoot it to pieces with your rail guns.
Chaos may be overpowered, but that's because we have the full power of evil incarnate on our side.
Who's on your side?
Wow, I didnt expect that response. My response to this power was going to be starting a Chaos army if they dont modify this power. Mobility doesnt mean squat when my opponent can move MY guys. Guess what your saying is I'll have to accept that any infantry I have is going to get pulled into CC 75% of the time.
I'm trying not to 'moan' it just irks me that a single power can change the whole game mechanic so drastically that your suggesting my only recourse is to hide or respond with Cheese. (Can't shoot IC's and can't take Tau Librarians)
When the only way around something is cheesing out your list, I think its a safe bet that that something is Cheese as well.
Seriously tho, GW did motivate me to start a second army with this codex. Except for that one bit, and one or two units that might not reach the bar, (see posessed, spawn) they did a pretty good job. You don't hear me complaining about Thousand Sons, at least you can fight that on level ground.
Eldar can do something similar with a Jaynes'Are(spelling ... is evil) and a squad of howling banshees in a transport.
Marines have their spiffy stuff.
Necrons... Well, who cares, they're cheaty anyways.
Orcs LIKE assault.
Guard and do Sacrificial flank to save their butts against it. (Focus Fire on one side of the melee assaulters, let one half of your guys die and kill the rest as they run to the other half of the map)
Nids like CC.
As far as I can tell, every army has a way to deal with the lash that could/would be taken as a normal choice for their list and is viable against multiple enemies. So it's not really fair to say that this cheese is unbeatable. You just have to think a bit.
Yeah there are ways of dealing with this power, but too many of them seem to be sending guys to die. -_- Tricksy tricksy Chaos, of COURSE you would demand sacrifice! I just hope I dont fail those pinning checks too often.
Chaos has just got a nasty power which is tricky to deal with.
A lot of races have this.
When I face crisis suits, because of their infernal jumping and my all infantry army, I know that I'm going to sustain a few casualties. It neither makes crisis suits horribly broken or my army nerfed.
Having given it some thought, there's a lot of drama which is behind the lash. It's become popular to hate it without even considering how it fits into the game.
Previously, I thought that the lash was fair game against only Eldar (let's face it, who's overall abilities, costs and resilience makes a mockery of every race).
Having had a good butchers of the new ork codex, I suddenly feel vindicated in taking a lash against Orks too.
The lash is nasty, and you WILL have to change your tactics.
But as above this applies to:
etc etc etc
Additionally.. I'm not aware of any GW staff that uses the LO Chaos forums.
the GW errata site seems quiet.. so.. no indication on that front.
