I was wondering: how do you use the Lost and the Damned army list now that the new Chaos Space Marines codex is out?
Do you use the old CSM codex with the LatD army list, same as before?
Do you use the new CSM codex witht he LatD army list? If so, what is an Arch Heretic? Could a Sorceror from the new codex be used as an Arch Heretic? How do you use Aspiring Champions? Do you access the Armoury from the old list when LatD says a model has access to it? What of Gibbering Hordes? Do Greater/Lesser Demons count as Elites choices? (I'm sure there are more issues than these with this route, but these seem the most pressing).
I read somewhere that a CSM army can take Traitor Guard/LatD as allies (1 HQ, 1 Elites, 2 Troops, 1 Fast Attack, right?). If this is true, how would you do THAT alongside the new rules?
Hoping these questions have answers,
Well, the straight answer is; LaTD is not playable anymore. The LaTD codex was written with the old Chaos codex. A new codex will mean any "variations" will become obsolete, unless they have errata. Hence Ulthwe strike force armies are not valid anymore, and when the new Space wolves codex arives 13th company is gone too.
You could however brew up some house rules on them though. I have a LaTD army myself and I just use the normal LaTD list, expect when talking champions as HQ I'd go for either a Chaos marine champion or a Noise champion etc. when taking a mark. Picking wargear from that entry. Points cost as specified for the champion of that squad in NEW codex. So say; Noise marine costs X points, Champion adds up +Y points. Take for example a Doom siren and your total cost is something 60-ish points or something.
Besides that, Chaos marines w/ an Icon are troops, Marked marines like Berzerkers are Elite.
I'd skip the Arch heretic as a whole. Just take a Chaos lord at full points. Or at least go for a viable Chaos HQ choice now and not take a "new" Chaos sorceror for the points of a Arch heretic.
So basically, anything in the LaTD book just still counts as what it is, with the exeption of models that require the Old Chaos codex. Just check if you can come up with something that's fair enough to substitute.
I lead a squad of traitors by a champion with the mark of Tzeentch. I substituted him with an Aspiring sorceror from the Thousand sons entry. I'm paying through the nose on that one, so no one is complaining
I believe this topic has been around numerous times, so try to use search next time.
just going to have to wait and hope that GW does an eretta article on it to bring them up to date.

I played my LatD on Saturday and I thought about it very much. Here's what I did :
I used the new Chaos Codex (2007)
1- I only used AC as HQ. They were bare naked and I used the regular chosen / Chaos Space marine champion as a template for upgrade. So the only upgrade my AC could have are power fists, power weapons and plasma pistols at the current point cost (2007). They come with CCW, Bolt Pistol and Bolter. You can still apply them the marks as stated in the LatD list, but you can't give them anything else. It would had helped to provide an update to the LatD list with upgrades for AC as in the new codex. You can still use greater daemons, but I would recommand agains it since you need a AC to summon it.
2- Daemons are now the generic ones and your mutants and traitors cand be given icons so no problems.
3- I used a defiler with it's new profile. No one even bother asking about it since it cost the same amount of points and isn't worst or way better (still better, but not way better).
4- Traitors and Mutants can't take power fist anymore as there are no more chaos armoury. Learn to deal with it. The rhino can be upgraded with the new codex entry.
5- I suggest you don't use any allied troops as this may bother you opponents. And since there is no more entry for nurglings, I suggest you also drop the gibbering hordes.
That's it, you should be able to play. The idea is to accept that you've lost some elements that made LatD amasing, but you still get a good army. I won with this new configuration.
CHAOS Undiv.: won 14/22 games EC: 4/7 WE: 6/9 DG: 10/15, TS: 3/7 Orks : 13/20 SM NL : 1/6 TAU: 14 of 24 IG: 3/7
Officially they no longer exist. Presumably the cultist aspect of Chaos will get a treatment in Codex: Daemonic Legions or whatever it's called, but at the moment that looks unlikely.

If you want to 'induct' some LATD forces into a mainly CSM army then the apocalypse datasheet seems Ideal for you. Just play apocalypse games and you can get as many marines as you feel like then use the LATD datasheet to get plenty of mutants and traitor guard units mixed in.
