I just wanted some opinions on the viability of a khorne apocalypse army.
mainly my thoughts are to create a renegade marine force made up of beserkers dedicated to khorne who are allied with a "blood pact esque" guard force for anti tank and general apocalypse goodness
I want to include a termi lord
as many foot slogging maniacs as possible
I havent written the fluff yet for my two combigned armies for khorne but i was thinking renegades who were left behind and fought their way out against all odds end up giving themselves to khorne and begin the recruitment of men for their khornate guard
anythoughts on the viability or how you would organize a force similar to this or general pointers on how to assemble my fluff, army so on and so forth
comments are all very appreciated
Well, for rules you could consider the Siege of Vraks Forgeworld book and the Renegade rules in that book. Fluffwise, I'd skip any kind of Psyker as that won't fit Khorne.
Alternatively you could track down the rules for the blood pact army. Or even use LaTD rules from the Eye of Terror book.
Before looking into the Vraks book, I'd take a peek in the IG codex, it's somewhat similar. Renegades offer some extra units but it's by the same guidelines.
Obviously, GW has taken them down for whatever reason - so please do not request them on LO but..
there were, for a few days some PDFs for apocalypse. It was called the rain and maelstrom of blood.. and basically involved a large number of bezerkers and some special rules, including fleet of foot and denying any fleet for the enemy.
Perhaps this will come back?
Just a suggestion.
Remember that you can use any imperial datasheet you wish to. Some eversor assassins as totally insane bezerkers who explode and things like that might work for you.
And you can find all of the latest data sheets here -
thanks for all of the help guys this is great...now i can start writing some fluff
Aah.. i stand corrected! Excellent!
*laments loss of powerfists in LaTD*
Khorne works extremely well in Apocalypse. Especially if your opponent is foolish enough to set up 12" away from you.
The 'Maelstrom of Gore' datasheet is very useful, as are Berzerkers assaulting out of Land Raiders.
I also use the following, all of whom have worked extremely well in Apocalypse games:
8 Raptors of Khorne with 2 Meltaguns and a Power Fist or pair of LCs. .
8 Bikers of Khorne with 2 Meltaguns and a Power Fist.
10 Chosen of Khorne, with 3 Meltaguns, a Power Weapon and a Power Fist - OR -
10 Chosen of Khorne, with 3 Power Weapons, a pair of LCs and a Power Fist. <This unit Flank Marched behind a 3 Basilisk Battery + an IG squad guarding them. I shot and Assaulted both units destroying all of them, to a man. Khorne was happy!>
Khorne Lords: the Daemon Weapon for Khorne is just too chaotic, and will likely kill your Lord, who is quite likely to stand round doing nothing at some point. I use a Winged Lord of Khorne with a pair of LCs + Melta Bombs, and he does pretty well; usually pairing up with the Bikers or Raptors.
Don't bother with Khorne DPs, the other Marks are much better for DPs.
Hope this helps
Great thanks for the help guys
Well I recieved my malestrom of gore and as always I just hate the bunny ears on the beserker helmets...is there any way to explain away the bunny ears or should I just keep them?
Just cut 'em off matey.
Or make your own bezerker helmets
Chaos is all about creativity.
Also killing things.
