As per the new codex the Demon Prince are immune to Instant death. But that shouldn't make him/her/it immune to a Force Weapon, should it?
The discussion about Force Weapon and Instant detah has been a long one in the Tyranid forums as all tyranid Synapse Creatures are immune to instant death but by the wording of force weapons they don't inflict Instant Death, they "just" remove all wounds, thus can't be protected against.
I just wonder if you Chaos players see it the same way as the Tyranid players (after looong discussions I think the conclusion was that Force Weapons don't inflict Instant Death) or you think Force Weapons are "useless" against Demon Princes.
Sorry if this already has been covered but couldn't find anything when searching.
force weapons are made to kill things like demon princes or any multi-wound model. they can kill one with the proper rolls. my buddy dodges a librarian all the time with his prince.
they can also kill multi-wound/synapse bugs. they don't instant kill. so bug players need to realize that too.
it aint a case of what peopel think, it is pretty clear in the rules, "instand death" is a specific rule which has to meet certain criteria, force weapons rules are clearly stated, the fact they dont mention instant death means they dont use that rule, therefore imunity to instant death has no bearing on force weapons
Everything you have been told is a lie!
is it a force weapon?
if yes and all the rolls and pys checks were made then yes the carni is dead.
as said before a weapon has to meet certain standards (Strength is double targets toughness, etc.) or have a it as a special rule (some sort of eldar gun)
Instant-death is a special rule that needs these criteria, but Kills Outright has nothing to do with instant-death, it only requires a force weapon. And a special rule that clearly says "not affected by instant-death" does not include Kills outright, a completely different thing.
so fex's, Tyrants, Daemon Princess's and greater daemons should make it mandatory to avoid force weapon users like the plague, even nurgle. and just send useless troops their way (lessor daemons, Gaunts, genestealers, George W. Bush, a hammer, etc.)
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
A forceweapon does not cause instant-death, it kills the model outright, having protection from instant-death offers no protection against a forceweapon.
Cheredanine (and most of the other posters here) has it right here, Force Weapons do not cause Instant Death, and there for anything that is immune to the "Instant Death" special rule are still effected by Force Weapons. However, they would be immune to the Wraith Cannon's special effects since that specifically states that it is instant death.

Good. Then it is as I thought. Just wanted to avoid that argument (as some Tyranid players always start arguing against Force Weapon killing outright) when I meet Chaos next time as my Force Weapon-toting Librarian probably will go Demon Prince hunting ;-)
