My friends and I are planning another Apoc. game in the near future, and I was thinking of creating a Masters of (the chapter) chaos uber unit, involving on master plus 4 liuetenants, each being a chaos lord, representing Chaos undivided plus the four powers. My friends are pretty relaxed and said they'd let this fly, using the same rules / price as for the normal marines.
I am in the process of putting together a theoretical configuration before I buy models and I am sitting on a couple of problems:
1. Terminators or not? Pros -> With the huge attention they will be getting, the extra save is nice, as is DSing as the only alternative to footslogging. they will be a bit harder, and it also seems scarier to have termi armour.
Cons -> This does get rid of some of the wargear options, and gits rid of the option of using a transport vehicle (they have to have to have a bodyguard. e.g. Terminators or chosen). Modeling will also be harder (and more expensive) as there are less bitz, espeacially mark specific ones, around. while power armoured lords can pretty much be made out of the combined chaos plastics.
2. Daemon weapons, while fluffy, seem to be a bit of risk for what they do, espeacially when there's 4-5 of them. yay or nay?
3. Should I trick out the bodyguard squad or go for cheap(er) wounds? it is a fun game, but if I go crazy, there is an even higher chance of just being pie plated to death...
I realise that if i go the power armoured route, I won't be able use any personal modes of transport (as chosen can't really take any, and daemon steeds arn't even compatible with each other) so it is really a land raider vs. Termi armour debate (because it is just silly to leave super lords footslogging that massive 12" gap into enemy lines)
Does anyone have any good links one how to make god specific (not necceseraily Lord) Terminators too?
Sorry to bump my own thread here guys, but I'm now half way through building and I was looking for help with the Weapon Configurations. I'm not sure if this should be in the army list section instead as it's really only one unit..
Master of the Lords 130 pts
Power Weapon, Combi-melta, Personal Icon
Khorne Lord 135 pts
Lightning Claws, Combi-Bolter
Slaanesh Lord 140 pts
Daemon Weapon, Combi-bolter
Nurgle Lord 140 pts
Power fist, Combi-bolter
Tzeentch Lord 145 pts
5 Chaos Chosen 160 / 355 pts
Undivided Icon, Plasma Gun, 4 x combi-bolters, Rhino or Land Raider
Total: 850 / 1045 pts
I know this is going to be one crazy over-priced unit of death, so I'm trying to get effective combo's on the load that won't be too much overkill. I'm also toying with useing a dreadclaw drop pod as transport, but I'm not sure.
Why not do something like the image in the front of the 3rd chaos codex?
Namely, you can have bezerkers, lesser daemons and a greater daemon for the khorne lord (or Kharn!), who would be leading them. The formation bonus could be that the daemons are there at the start, and that the presence of the daemons either a) multiply the mark bonus by two, E.G. MoK gives two attacks. confers a #+ invulnerable save to everything there. This theme would be for all the powers. The final one would lack daemons, instead getting a squad of termies and a squad of normal men, maxed out.
I think this idea has merit.
Abaddon, leading the chosen heroes of the gods into battle, a horde of daemons and marines following them.
There would obviously be some side squads, such as a few obliterators, predators, defilers, even possessed and spawn. If the points allowed it, a plague reaper and a brass scorpian.
