I'd like to have an optional Personal Icon in each of my Plague Marine squads. Should I just model one unit carrying the nurgle standard and then if I'm not using the personal icon, just treat it as a redundant display of the mark of nurgle that the unit possesses? What does everyone else do for representing a personal icon? Thanks
Using a normal CSM Nurgle Icon would look perfectly fine to me. Another suggestion would be (for simplicity) to make a Chaotic version of the Space Marine banners that you put on Sargeant backpacks, etc. Those with really good painting skills could do some impressive things with that methinks.
Otherwise, I'd say use your imagination! And those spare parts! I would wager that the Chaos vehicle sprue would be a great place to start.
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
For my personnal Icons and icons of the gods I use Tropheys of fallen enemies. MY Sergeants have Imperial fist heads on there back packs and stuff.
For Nurgle I guess you could put a rotting head in one hand of the model carrying the Icon if you wish.
I do like DJ87, not as much classical Chaos Iconography as I think it easily looks a bit silly.
No, I prefer the more subtle version and tries to imagine what would best serve the god in question. So for Khorne I might make a bundle of skulls being dragged behind the iconbearer.
Nurgle maybe an infected ribcage of some ssort, held high and carved with the three dots in some way. Maybe make three eyes opening in the ribcage...
Tzeentch would get a book or a scroll of some sort and Slaneesh...well I better not get started on Slaneesh right now... LO is a place for all ages after all.
For undivided I might do a SpaceMarine helmet with a glowing Chaos Star or a nice, juicy piece of recently flayed skin being draped over a backpack or shoulder pad.
Or possibly even a combination of all the gods in some way. Like a piece of skin with the star upon it having roughly a quarter of it dedicated to each of the gods. Part infested, part scribbled, part pierced and then like a bloody handprint or something to symbolize Khorne.
Not sure really...I'm not the undivided kind
I dont have banners and icons as I dont see the Iron warriors carrying around stuff on poles really, thats more Word bearerish to me.
