After reading 10th Lyrans fabulous stories concerning the Word Bearers i have felt the pull of the Chaos Gods and have left my Space Marines behind and have sided with the Dark Gods. I would Love to create a Word Bearers army with a good amount of fluff included but im at a lost as to what units would be good and possibly wat deamons would be a good choice.
hoping u veterans out there can give me a hand, thanx in advance
Word Bearers use most units freely, I can see them Allying themselves with any other legions and displaying icons of any of the gods.
For a Word bearers army Id say stick to making a Dark apostle of some kind for a leader, either using a Sorcerer or a Lord and modelling him appropritately. Dont forget a solid core of chaos marines with icons and daemons in support.
Also the novel dark apostle is good for flff, it will be followed late this year by dark disciple.
Like danjones87 already said a dark apostle and a good amount of wb legionaires.
I use a Lord or Sorcerer w/ the Mark of Tzeentch for my Dark Apostle because there's not other way to give him a 4+ invulnerable save that was once granted by his accursed crozius.
After that, you can use lots of demons, but Lesser Demons aren't really that impressive, so I like to stick to lots of CSM units.
I'm pretty sure you're best off with:
Any HQ with a MoT and whatever else you want;
All other units with the IoCG;
Lots of Daemons (if possible).
Other than that, go wild.
Personally, I think they'd consider 'cult' troops (Berzerkers, etc.) heresy, as they worship the Dark Gods as a pantheon and do not favor one over another. Cult troops represent those stuck on the path of one god and would be hunted down and killed for the good of the Legion. Icons of other Gods might be stretching it, though for one battle a unit might call on a specific power to aid its role on the battlefield.
thanx i will of course have it lead by a dark apostle and ill fool around with the core.
