Anyone have good ideas about how to combine cult troops?
Say Plague Marines and Thousand Sons. PM's advance ahead of TSs, screening them from fire and with meltas to charge into combat. TSs, with their Slow and Determined rule, can tag along with the PMs and shoot at the units the PMs are about to engage.
Admittedly that's all I've got now. PMs and NMs could work if NMs cover the PM advance with Sonic Blasters and a Blast Master. The Blastmaster could be used to pin troops that the PMs are going to charge.
I've heard bad things about combiningg Plague Marines and Thousand Sons. Plague Marines are good at soaking up small-arms fire, Thousand Sons are good at soaking up heavy weapon fire. So, by combining them, you give your opponent a choice to fire his heavy weapons at the PMs and his small arms at the TSs, rather than having one sit around and do very little. Never experienced this scenario myself, so I can't say for sure.
I think either Thousand Sons or Noise Marines would be good at covering an advance of Khorne Berserkers. Noise Marines might be slightly better because they won't be too far behind the Berserkers and can offer really good back up in Close-Combat as well.
What about Noise Marines and Plague Marines? I've only played one game of 40k and it was a 500 point game with DP and 2x6 Plague Marines. I felt like I could have done with some more ranged firepower, which the Noise Marines can provide with a Blastmaster. Not to mention the 3 shots per man from the Sonic Blasters.
'Assault 2': Does this allow me to fire twice if I move but do not assault?
'Assault 2' means you can shoot AND charge him if you want!
Khorne - Slannesh
Works decently, both advance forward and after a bit Slanneshies stop walking and just shoot, a ton. And if the khornites hit CC, it's tons of attacks for them as well.
nurgle - rhino
Okay, a rhino isn't a cult troop, but they're just the rhino riders for life(death?)
.... oh wow, I'm out.
In the case of noise marines, this is one of their options, along with 'Heavy 3', which allows them to fire 3 shots if they don't move (and obviously don't charge). Etc in the same way as above.
Spambot kill tally. . .337
I like to charge in with plague marines to tie units up(they are fearless and have feel no pain), and then after my guys die I unload with my noise marines at the enemy that just killed my plague marines.
With Chaos I've learned that sacrifices have to be made.
Sorry little buddies, but they still love me.
