Hey at mygamingclub weve decided toplay a 40k mega battle as the start of a campaign the battle will be between 6000 and 10000 points depending on how many people want to play with each player using 2000pt armies.
The chaos armies will be lost and the dammed, iron warriors, slanesh and death guard.
Im not sure what the imperial army will be made up of but i no at leas 4000pts of deamon hunters will be present.
Their is a very good chance they willalsotake a warhound titan so i was wondering how on earth do we kill the thing?
Daemon Prince who is a crack addict (full of every sick upgrade you can give it)
Shooting at it without a titan killer gun is a waste of the whole army. Perhaps oblits could saturate it with lascannons, but it would be a waste in the end too. Charge it and drop kick it.
the iron warriors are your best chance of taking that thing out. warhounds are tough, but they are not invincible. Make sure the IW have a basilisk and a vindicator. If they can get a couple of shots off before the inevitable, you have a chance. Even havoc squads with lascannons have a chance. If you look at the war machine damage table, you'll see that it's not impossible to take one out. Like I said though, the basilisk and vindactor are your best shot though.

you could counter it with your own super heavy.

I just wanted to give you some advice for going against the Warhound since I own one right now, the Chaos Warhound Titan of FW
First of all the Warhound will look intimidating but it is not and I repeat not invulnerable, but try to keep it a range with battlecannons from defilers, Leman Russ and Earthshakers from Basilisk, forget the vindicator cause it has to get within 24", the plasmablastgun with destroy it with ease and keep your troops away from VulcanMegabolter, it has a lot of shots.
Also it can move 12" per turn and still fire both of it's weapons at a seperate target
Forget also the DP or BT as the plasmablastgun can Instantkill them both if those rules are used.
Iron Warriors are good as long as you take all 4 heavy support with a basilisk, a Defiler and a landraider wouldn't be too bad or a predator annihilator but be carefull it can cause a seriuos amount of damge in single turn.
( Mine just simply destroyed in a single turn 1 Landraider, 10 scouts and 6 terminators including a chaplain who had joined them.)
But remember like I already said it isn't invincible, take it one at range cause Defilers, Leman Russ and Basilisk have greater range and since your playing on large table range will be important
Good luck and please ask if you need more advice
With 10K points per side, your gonna have a lot of other headaches than just the titan. I'd dedicate a few heavies to chase the warhound around and kill it, then devote the rest of the army to battling the regular forces.
Things to remember:
1. Titans can't shoot through or into close combat, just like anything else.
2. Titans are limited by short range weapons and a 12" move.
3. Titans can be taken out by any long range high power weapon. Try lascannons, plasma cannons, and battle cannons.
Jack of all trades, master of none.
ok thanks for all that advice with come up with the idea of letting the iron warriors pound it with lascannons with support fromthe deathguards 2 predators.
Including obliterators that gives us 16 las cannons to shoot at it.
ALSO DOES NEWAYHAVE A TITAN DAMAGE TABLE (FOR BOTH GLANCING AND PENERTRATING) THAT WOULD REALLY BE USEFUL!
Chapter Approved 2004.
