Have been trawling the GW site for a suitable substitute for a Daemon Prince in my Thousand Sons army. The standard Prince offered is a little ordinary for my tastes and I want to have a more 'themed' approach.
Thus my search began. I have stumbled across the Tomb Kings Ushabti (Vulture). However, I cannot find i suitable size comparison out there; so essentially:
- Are they similar size?
- Do you think its a suitable substitute? (I know, it comes to personal taste)
- If any modifications - what then? (Clown nose, bright pink tail etc...)
- Are there any alternatives...
Personaly i think it would match well, although he looks a bit more expensive than a normal Demon Prince.
Size-wise, im not sure. Judging by the base it should be around the same though, maybe a bit taller.
Adding a Thousand Sons helmet, or Thousand Sons style horns with GS would be good
Not sure of any other alternatives, but this has my interest now... I'll be looking around and i'll post here again if i find one.
Well in considering the price: (Aus$Dollar here) Daemon Prince = $55 and Tomb King Ushabti = $33. So that's kinda the difference. Just to inform.
I agree with the base/size comparison - however the Prince has quite a bit of stature that the Ushabti would struggle to re-create. Nonetheless i would add various bits and pieces from other models to give a '40k' feel.... I have bought the Plastic Chaos Termy Lord - built a sorcerer from that set - got a few bits left over that i could 'graft' onto the Ushabti...
cheers for the response so far,
I think it will turn out great, the height is about the same. He loses a bit in the wieght department (he is thin) but hey not all daemon princes are created equal. He may be more along his daemonic assension than the generic daemon price, being made more out of the warp now he doesnt require protection of mutated marine armour...
