(Read all before moving it to the rumor thread)
Well, having read all the rumors about chaos deamons I wanted to share some of my thoughts with other chaos player. I think this codex is relevant to us, as it not only expands our fluff but quite posibly gives us out first ally ever. Finaly someone with a simalar agenda to us in the campaings :party2:. It also maters as well CSM used to include the deamons.
Tho they are still rumors I feel its about time we adress the issue since in about 4 days the first people will be getting their codex.
And it should be addresed in the chaos army forum as most chaos players will probably also have a deamon army. Since our generic deamons and the chaos deamons are well the same minis
Somethings that drew my attencion are:
-Deamon Prince as a heavy support choice: Seems somewhat cheese
-The aparent incompatibility of the CSM codex and the Chaos Deamon Codex: Tho it sucks, lets face it if we were to take deamons as allies we would have the cheesest army ever!
-everything with a 5+ inv at least makes sense, no armour saves.
-Incredibly tough HQ's, well its a deamon army after all. But some of them apear in rumors to be a little bit JUST too powerfull
-If the rumors are correct the army is shaping to be one incredibly fast and tough army, solid in every aspect. except in the Armour Saves dep....but realy with inv. who cares.
After reading the rumors I am quite exited to see how the army book comes out and plays, altho I am a little worried about the codex being a bit overpowered . And how that afects us as fellow chaos players. Fluff wise and perseption wise.
Plus the new minis gives us great costumizing in our demonic units, to give it that final look too the army. Some part of the khorne herald will fit great in a khorne lord. Or some parts of the masque could be converted into a slannesh lord . Plus the new Greater deamon caracters minis that are bound to come out
So my fellow chaos players, the question now is how do you feel about the chaos deamon codex and the csm codex being separate? And how do you think it afects us (CSM) that the codexs where split.

I'm happy there's something more than the general daemons we got. THough I'm still a bit sad that they are not alliable into our lists.
I think it would make perfect sense to use Tzeentchian Daemons in a Thousand Sons army for example...
New minis are always welcome...
Agreed. I'd been hoping that they'd be usable together, like Witch Hunters & SMs/IG.
I'm for one is happy the are separate. I'e written it before and wil write it again: When daemons are summoned in such quantities that they form entire armies themselves some really powerfull spells have been cast, and that's not done overnight. Those spells that draws forth entire legions of daemons also drenches reality in magic so that the daemons become powered up. It's just pure fluff. When CSMs conjure the aid of a singe unit or 2 worth of daemons, they don't pay much heed to saturate the environment in the power of the warp. Thus the daemons are "choked" and not nearly as powerfull as thier true selves.
I want a powerfull army, but I'm also playing because it's a challenging game to pit my strengths and weaknesses against my opponent. With the Codex Daemons as my allies, I doubt we would have that many weaknesses and we would soon have trouble finding opponents.
You can use the daemons. You have the lesser Daemons unit enties in the Codes CSM. They are not meant to be shock troops. They are meant to be expendable and cheap.
I will play a pure khornate Daemon army, and I will use the Bloodletters as my Lesser Daemons in my World Eaters army. In Apocalypse I will use both the Daemon army as well as the World Eaters army in conjunction, as conflicts on such a scale easily opens up warp rifts and summons forth the true servants of the Gods. But in smaller games up to about 3500pts I will just use the Lesser Daemons in Codex: CSM. It just seems according to the fluff for me.
"The more choices you force the opponent to make, the better the chance for you to capitalize on his mistakes"
As I've said I will just use them as allies anyways. I never play tournies and my opponent is ok with it. Not saying I'm going to take max allies every game but maybe just 1 squad or something. Besides, who is to say a warp rift doesn't open in the same spot my chaos marines happen to be attacking....
The problem is with using Lesser daemons from the CSM codex and/or daemons from
the CD codex.
As there are no models for Lesser daemons, you will use daemonettes, bloodletters,
horrors or plaguebearers, to stand in for these.
So, when using daemons from the CD codex in a CSM army, you'll have a problem
explaining which models are Lesser daemons and which are dedicated units.
So, either GW is going to release 'Lesser daemon models' or there will be no using the
CS codex daemons in a CSM army.
Innovation suffuses this hobby like a tea bag in the boiling water of play.
these the lesser daemon models that you would use to represent lesser daemons in the new chaos marine codex? (Yes they are undivided and yes there are the other daemons that can be used, but weren't these ones made for the purpose of being the lesser daemons used here?)
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

Those are actually the old Chaos Fury models reever, I guess since they no longer exist in the new dex GW is simply changing their name.
I wouldn't use them as lesser daemons, the wings are misleading.
I use these Ira Tenebrae and they have gotten me many complements.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
The codices are basically not compatible. There isn't really any good way to merge the 'real' daemons with the regular chaos marine army and leave it fair and functional. The Codex: Chaos Daemons' rules for reserves and the start of the game are too wildly different from the norm.
Certainly, one should not be allowed to use Icons on their Chaos Marines as homers for daemons from a different codex. Allowing them to summon in as per the rules for summoned daemons would be obviously unfair.
In addition, as Kantoken said, you couldn't really use summoned lesser daemons and Codex Daemons in the same list.
This is an idea better saved for apocalypse (or similar) games where you can keep them in their separate armies. Basically, you shouldn't be trying to mix the two codices together in regular games.
Once again, the conservative, sandwich-heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor!
The models shown in the above link look so... ugh, uniform.
I think I'll probably use a big 'ol mix of the God-specific daemons in one big horde to represent my lesser daemons.
