Hello everyone, I have been thinking about what kind of theme and army I want my demons to be and I was reading Skarbrands story when I got an idea. What if some demons banded together and left their masters control to form their own rebellion (the fluff behind the formless wastes named a Greater Demon that carved out his own paradise). The are tired of their masters petty desires and they want to create their own realm where they are free. This is far fetched and I know demons are warp energies from the gods, but furies and skarbrand are still running around.
I dont see why not.
In the fluff of the new 'Dex it goes a long way to make daemons more individual, with their own thoughts rather than a rabble controlled by like a over-god.
So I can see this occuring, maybe finding a patron from another god (not 1 of the big four) or mayhap another disgraced greater daemon...
What once was courage has now cursed in the wars we've made.
We are the sinners, before our graves.
Trying something different is always nice. Not only is it a unique idea but depending on how you go about it, it might open up opportunities for a more interesting paint job than the typical Khorne is red/black, Slaanesh is white/purple/pastels, ect. If they have something unique about them, it might also open up opportunities for conversions like making your own Icons/symbols.
The fluff in one of the army book/codexes (don't remember which Chaos Daemons one it was) mentions that GD's can rebel against their power, but that even by doing so they are serving it. That is, a Bloodthirster which goes to war vs. Khorne's minions is still slaughtering, a GUO which spawns a pestilence that lays waste to Nurgle's garden is still spawning pestilence.
In other words, this sounds like completely legitimate fluff. GoGo Rebel Daemons!
Thanks for everyone replies! I was worried that I was going to get nailed for the idea, but everyone has given me new desire to make it. I came up with this list really quick, does it portray a council of demons? Also should I do a unified paint scheme or do I try to mark them all the same way?

I'm not sure the whole 'freedom' thing really works. I can't see a bunch of daemons getting together and deciding that they're all free and equal.. Daemons vary hugely in power and I guess it must seem somewhat natural to them that strong ones dominate weaker ones. Then there's the lesser daemons, which are often not even of human intelligence..
I think a better idea for a 'daemonic rebellion'.. would be to have a powerful daemon (or group of powerful daemons - the heralds perhaps) decide that he/they wants to be free, and assemble their minions and try and make it on their own as an unaligned power.
It might also help to have some reason why they've not been destroyed. Perhaps the leader daemon(s) have found a way to bind themselves to a powerful artifact, occult sanctum, daemon world etc.. Something which lets them resist the power of their masters. It also gives them something to fight for, as they have to defend their power base from other forces, chaos or otherwise..
