I see lots of hate for the screamers, people claiming they can only take out vehicles, but come 5th edition they will be the fastest moving anti-tank that demons have. I havent play with mine but have pointed up using 1 possibly 2 unit(s) of 3 with unholy might on each for 53 points. They are a fast moving tank hunting unit that can take down vehicles up to armor 16 (17) but on average roll will be 12 (13). To top it off they are sweet looking models.
Ummm... Why would you bother with Unholy Might on them? It doesn't help them destroy vehicles, and even with it they still roll over to anything else in CC.
I think the main reason most people don't like them are because they are overspecialised. They can do one thing, but they can't really do anything else, and they're so easy to kill.

Yeah, the biggest problem with Screamers is that they're good ONLY at killing vehicles. They can't shoot, and in CC they are sub-par to just about everything else in the codex. (Also, I know Phalanx said this before, but Unholy Might would only help their CC abilities. It does not add on to the melta-bomb AP).
Perhaps 5th edition will allow us to use melta-bombs in CC against normal enemies? That'd be interesting. Very fast, very fragile, VERY hard hitting.
For the screamers points compared to fiends you would get 2 models with a better save. You just lose the rending which will be near worthless vs vehicles and you gain a faster moving cheaper and more reliable tank hunting unit. The fiend can take out heavy infantry and vehicles which i would rather them be to be able to focus on infantry/heavy infantry.
I have never found a unit specialized for one task to be a negative if they can do the task well. If their are no vehicles you have a fast moving unit to control table quarters or objectives.

Wrong about the unholy might helping you take on tanks.
Melta Bombs are automatically a certain str +2d6. Look in you BGH under assaulting walkers. Sorry i would give the page # but dont have it on me.
wow, yeh i always thought it was the models str, I thought it was the melta that added 2d6. Its an even better unit then i first thought. Well I for one am all for a unit that specializes in something. If this unit hits once it means bad news. Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding. I still don't see how they are less survivable point for point with fiends. They are faster nearly half the price per model and have a better save. I think come 5th they will shine even brighter.

I agree, screamers will probably be one of the most efficient tank hunters come 5th ed and they're good enough now. Daemons need some cheep tankbusting anyway, it's probably our greatest weakness
I've only just started collecting Daemons and I'm taking a squad of 3 of them surely because they're be the best tank buster units for fighting against the new tank heavy Guard and orks with battlewagons and other vehicles hiding behind a kustom force field.
True they maybe suicidal but it worth it as they'll often pay for their points cost.
In my experience, you generally want a single squad of 4-5 of them. (Expect to lose some on the way in; it's why 3's too few.) But they're cheap, highly effective at killing vehicles, and super-fast if you need to contest an objective.
This is some powerful necromancy. This thread was before the codex came out almost a year ago.
