Does anyone use them?
I have about 25 of them and cannot for the life of me see why they cost as much as they do in relation to flesh hounds. Is there something I am missing? The lower initiative really hurts them, I can't help but feel that it should be a 5.
I'm with you, I can't find any real reason to take what was once one of the most underrated units in the game.
I don't know why, but GW seems to have just decided it's the year of crapping on Furies, hell even their fluff makes fun of them. Perhaps it's to do with their new stance on the warp, where they pretty much try to crap all over the previous fluff and make it seem like nothing but the four main gods exist, trying to do away with the idea of all of the lesser chaos entities that aren't affiliated with any god.
This Summer, see GW dumbing down a Chaos army near you... Again.

... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
I guess there are certain occasions where flying type units are more useful than beast type units.
Where there are a lot of walls or cover or whatever...
But in reality I'm just scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and look for some use for poor furies.

Yeah, thats even more annoying. Furies rock hard in fantasy...
It does seems very odd that Furies are the same cost...even 1 point would have made them more viable.
The points you pay for them are certainly for their jump packs. Jump packs have some good advantages over Beasts, such as better use of Cover, as well as moving faster across the battle field.
Another thing, is maybe Beasts won't get auto-fleet anymore come 5th ed? So they can can still use the 'Run' rule, but can only charge 18. That'll put them more on par, with the Jump pack being balanced out the incresed stats, in terms of points, anyway.
Or, Just use flesh hounds I'll be using both since I have the models, but at least Furies won't be a unit i'll protect with all my life
Well, I use flesh hounds at the moment. I was thinking of adding in a unit of furies for a bit of variety but the lower weapon skill, init and lack of any special rules for the same points has made them a sub-par choice atm.
With the advent of 5th Ed there may be some extra perks. Might be the reason that Flight is so expensive for for Daemon Princes?
