It seems to me i have had most success with MCs with chaos daemons and would like to know what you guys think the best MC combo is. Here is my setup:
Bloodthirster w/unholy might, blood god, death strike
Keeper of secrets w/ pavane, gaze, might
Lord of change w/ sorc,breath
Nurgle w/hide noxious touch, decay
if picked LOC GD: Slaanesh w/pavane, gaze, hide
if picked KOS GD: tzeentch w/bolt gaze
I am leaning a bit towards KOS because of combat. However, lord of change's "triple shot" can probably weaken a unit enough for the kill..What are your thoughts?
The best DP set up, IMO (although one of the most expensive) is:
-Breath of Chaos
Has GD toughness, armour, always wounds on a 2+, 3+ Armour, Flight and also an insane template attack to make up for the lack attacks.
Then chuck in 2 Bloodthirsters with Might of Chaos for additional Anti-IC's and Vehicles.
You advocated spending 160 points of upgrades on an 80 point model? Seriously?
Bloodthirsters with Unholy strength? They are already s 8 on the charge, how much more wounding on 2+ do you want to get?
Here's 5 MC's, if that's how you want to go.
2 Great Unclean Ones w/cloud of flies (if your local group has it working like photon/blight grenades)
3 Daemon Princes w/Iron Hide, Daemonic Gaze
It's a question of what's most effective for those points.
We can consider the Daemon Prince as a unit that fits one of 2 roles.
Role 1: Drop close by, blast, endure enemy fire, then charge in.
For this guy we want our maximum endurance, so Iron Hide. That doubles his amount of saves vs. non AP3 weapons, like say....rapid fire bolters. The gun is a tossup between Daemonic Gaze, Breathe of Chaos or both, but at the end of the day (due to no We Are Legion) I think its better to be safe than sorry, so I figure we save the Breathe of Chaos for less costly bodies to carry. None of the other upgrades to him are cost effective enough to pay for the fact that it's likely he'll drop, shoot and die, so why lose the extra points? They can be put to good use elsewhere.
Roel 2: Drop far off, trade fire till dead.
Now this guy wants to have both weapons. In fact, he needs it, if he's to do well. So Daemonic Gaze is a natural, but let's also give him Bolt of Tzeentch. Now, this necessitates the Mark of Tzeentch, which means that we are already spending his point cost in upgrades. With this bonus to his invul save its not worthwhile to go for Iron Hide, particularly as long range guns that don't AP 3 are most likely multi-shot, and hence will be used on infantry before they are used against a DP.
I can see another use of the Prince. Remember that he's a monstrous creature. The flying tankbuster is a very viable option. He's expensive, but he'll crack tanks open like nothing else. Drop him in solid cover, fly him to the tanks or enemy MCs and then let him have his fun.
= 160 pts
He's got T5, imunity to Instant Death and 4 wounds. Thats enough to get to the tank. Once finished he can jump to other targets. Even if he doesnt make his points back, he will rob the enemy of one dangerous weapon against daemons - high strength blast markers. Even if he only takes out one cheap Leman Russ, he's done crippling damage to the enemy and the unprotected hordes of daemons can advance more safely. That's worth more than him making back his points.

"The more choices you force the opponent to make, the better the chance for you to capitalize on his mistakes"
Flying MC's of death!
Lord of Change
-Master of Sorcery
So is this the nidzilla list for chaos demons?
Is this army only viable with 5 monstrous creatures and some gribbly demons filling in the blanks?
