Yo, I probanly gunna play Death Guard and was wondering if you guys could share so experience with me.
-what you like
- what sucks
-how to beat soooty armies
so basically any goods are great.
if you would look around this forum, you probably could find more than you need
DG is tough, i like the toughness, the nasty models (40k is a models game!, and Typhus. i dont like the cost of a single infantrymen, but i play Thousand sons, and i know how to do it.
a nurgle force is a small elite one and their Daemons arent the greatest (used them in only 1 game though, ask an expert about the daemons)
Personally, I use lots of nurglings and blight grenades. I tend to put my nurgling bases around 4-5 inches in front of my plague marine lines, I wait for my enemy to charge the feeble nurglings, then I ****er charge with the marines, using the blight grenades so that against most enemies they will hit and wound on 5's.
Also, read my thread about nurgles rot. Its the best 5 points you can spend.
Haemonculus Coven Dark Eldar
I use a lot of plagueys and two squads of havocs with 4 meltas and 4 plasmaguns and infltraite(sp?) two rhinos for somthing else.I have a heavy @$$ HQ and if i can squeeze it in a defiler.

Death Guard Good points:
Excellent up close especially with nurgles rot and plague swords
The greater daemon is extreamly good for atracting firepower
Death Guard Bad points:
Expensive point costs
Expensive $ costs
Lack of rhinos (not really too bad since you hardly ever use loads of rhinos and if you want to dont play death gaurd!
Personnaly they are my favorite legion (Except balck legion) as there overall look and feel rocks.
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
If your concerned about model cost ($ then just buy normal plastic marines and convert them all.............muuu ha haaaaa.
Seriously, DG are just great at soaking up fire and damage from low to medium level units. Troops are fairly expensive but have many skills and atributes that make them well worth it. Deamons are a little limited but nurglings are far to cool to pass up on.
Use rhinos with havocs, close combat troops and possessed to give added protection and then just have as many foot sloggers as possible. In terms of their effectivness against shooty forces...........if a guy goes out of his way to build an army to kill them, which isnt hard, then your dead........just dont worry about it. If they need to specialise to kill you then their not worthy.
A Rhino? SLOTH!
In a 1500 point game I think I'd want to really deck out a prince but I'm really not sure what would work well or is just plain crap. I'd want to make him pretty nurgley too, so If you guys got any suggestion I have an open mind.
Or should I skip out on the prince and go for a less cool lord. man the chaos codex is complicated... 8|
I wouldnt go the prince route. I usually use a GUO and a LT with just D strength and manreaper in 1500 pts, and I dont even own a DP. Nayways, heres my thoughts.
true grit(noone has mentioned this, but it is great)
2 special weapons per squad
nice nurgle only wargear(N rot, manreaper, etc.)
Look awsome with basic or advanced painting skill
Bad Points:NONE!!(jk, im biased, neways...)
high pts per model cost
Above then leads to being outnumbered by many armies
no heavy weapons on anything but vehicles/walkers
Basic Death guard Tactics
I saw someone say something about plague swords being awsome. I disagree. I find that a PF is better for the same point cost. It will instant kill most characters anyways and the ones that it doesnt, you will probably have a hard time wounding with the sword anyways.
Nurgles rot is great, have it on your HQ and on champs, unless you plan to go plague bearer heavy or it is less than 1000 pt game.
Blight grenades. Hmmmmm... Some people never leave home without them and others never take them. I have never once put them in my list. I feel that more marines is better than something that only works if you get the charge and then only in the first round of combat, but it is your call.
Special weapons. I usually give about half my squads 2 meltas and the other half 2 plasmas. whatever you take, it is better to have 2 of the same in one squad and 2 of a different type in another squad than to have a mix of 1 each in both squads. And I always take 2 per squad.
GUO. This guy is IMO the best of the GD's. He will not go down most of the time, and if he does, your opponent will have put a ton of his firepower into him, leaving the rest of your army almost spotless. Plus, he comes with infestation and rot for free and gets a major psy power for free also. I take mine in any game 1000 pts and above.
Well, thats all I can think of right now. If you have any specific questions, just post more here. Good luck tainted one.
I'm trying to work out a list right now but I cannot seem to figure out what to use for my elites in a 1000 point game. My choices basically are, Termies, Chosen, Possesed, or forget about all that and get more of somthing else. So I just want to know what you guys like to use
if it is possesed , what upgrades do you like?
oh and thanks for all the info so far!
Don't let that T 5 fool you. You still can die against the average marine weapon(lascannon, melta, plasma, etc). IN close combat with blight nades ya its hard for them to wound and actually kill you that eats up alot of points so think smart.
