Now I know there are some people here who use Chosen marines. I am one of them, but I have yet to figure HOW i will use them, as close combat monsters, as shooty, or all around use. I know they aren't all that diofferent from regular mariens except for more weapon choices and the ability to infiltrate.
Use them how you want, there extremaly flexable.I usualy give them some power weapons or Pair of LC's for a good CC unit and with infiltration they get where they need to.They make nice tank killers, with 5 meltas you can realy sting the enemy's rear armor.Ofcourse if you don't use them carefuly, you can loose few hundred points.IMO, the best Icon for this unit is IoCG, becouse chosen usualy becomes the first target for the enemy.I usualy use them to bring down tanks or take objectives, but sometimes i use them to kill supporting units, like Devastators or Biovores and other kind of stationary fire.
I use them as cheap suicide units.
6 guys, 3 melts is around 140 pts
6 guys, 3 plasmas is around 155 pts
I use those two primarily. They're normally not super effective killers, but it forced your opponent to deal with them TURN 1 or they start losing things, fast.
So far I've only had one game where I lost all three plasmas due to overheat in the same turn. :p
Well if they are to be one of the first things shot at/assaulted, you can give them icon of nurgle
I use 10 with 3 meltaguns and a aspiring champion...
No one will ignore 3 meltas, taking some heat off my fast attack. The aspiring champion is there to summon my greater daemon into charge range. You could always take an Icon of some sort if you are thinking of using terminators or summon daemons...
What once was courage has now cursed in the wars we've made.
We are the sinners, before our graves.
First, I tried issuing them meltabombs but they were too slow to reach tanks with them. Then I tried using them for a 6-man infiltrating lascannon team but results were indifferent given the cost. Lastly, I considered issuing them special weapons but that made them redundant with my troop squads. Never did find a spot for them...they look good on paper but just don't deliver for me. I might try 3 powerfists some day, though.

Generally, it's best to keep your chosen cheap, like everything else we have. Give them only the basic upgrades and use the exactly as we used infiltrating troop choices in 3rd edition. Having large amounts of power weapons or special weapons makes them an obvious target, not to mention the sheer point sink. Along a slightly different line, upgrading chosen with heavy weapons bogs them down, and takes away their adaptability once the game begins.
Try something like this:
8x chosen with IoK
*2-3x special weapons
*a.c. with power fist
This unit is fitted to deal with everything, and just as important, it's cheap, and functions to support your main spearhead, which could be advancing rhinos, footslogging Noise Mairnes or T.Ss, or my personal favorite combo, Khorne raptors. Really, the 8 man Khorne chosen are what I'd consider to be our best all-around squad in the codex, though that may change with fifth edition rules on scoring units. We'll have to wait and see.

Completely Agreed Rabbit.
I'd love to fit that unit in to my 1850 list, but I just don't have the points (Oh look, a Land Raider's in my list...). Back when I was playtesting various army compositions (before buying everything), I had great success with that unit against Eldar and Guard armies (the only two I really faced...)

Yea, the best way to take full advantage of infiltrate is to get mark of khorne, Some armor negating weapons (power weapon, power fists, lightning claws) and hope you get first trun to chagre them.
Erm, you can't first turn charge with chosen.
I would strongly advocate Rabbit's squad, however, another that works for me:
Icon of Chaos Glory
Nice, cheap, and 4 flamers is actually quite nasty against any infantry. The sheer amount of wounds is horrific.
