Alright guys. im new here to the form and new to warhammer...kinda. i've been following it for about 12 years but never picked it up. Reading books, looking at pictures ect. Infact i think i've posted something similar to this in the eldar section. Basical now that im old enough and 'wise enough and ofcourse making money im gonna pick the hobby up with acouple of friends.
I was originaly going to collect eldar just to be different from my mates, them collecting mostly space marines but whenever i thought about how i was going to collect them, what army list, characters, fluff and paint scheme behind my army i didnt get the same feeling of excitment my friends were seemingly getin from their armys.
Flicking back over the fluff and history and storys i must have read a thousand times before i came to the chaos space marine codex. I have never realy been one for chaos cause i always like the image of the last stand of the rightouse good and pure. chaos dosent realy fall into that lol .
The night lords though, fwah! what a history, what a chapter, what a paint scheme, what a primarch!
See now when i thought about collectin these fellas i got excited.
However whereas with the eldar i kinda had an army list sorted out i realy dont have a clue with the night lords. I NEED HELP lol.
Sticking true to the none chaos tainted night lords would be cool. No daemonic influence. The bunny ear nightlords i think would also be amazing addition instead of the new looking chaos marine models with all the 8 pointed star nonscence :/. Oh and also just once last thing before i end this pointless ramble. Would anyone know where i can buy the older raptor models. The ones featured in the city fight codex battle report? I prefer them alot more tothe newer models.
WE HAVE COME FOR YOU!
Definately check eBay. Also, try your local game store.
I needed to pick up two more Raptors to round out my squad, and the store had the old models 1/2 off, so I got them and mixed in the bitz with the other, new Raptors.
Half Gods are worshiped with Wine and Flowers. Real Gods are worshiped in Blood.
Blood for the Blood God! Beer for the Bronze Keg!
I was sure gamesworsh shop online store use to do both the old raptors and the winged helm night lords but after searching the site last night i found nothing, bah! I guess i'll just keep my eye on ebay. My local games workshop (not so local, 30 miles away) might have some after another gamesworkshop in the country was shut down and all thier stock was shifted to my local. Could be worth a shot. Id defo think the forge world nightlord dred will take pride and place in my army.
Well... welcome to the chaos section of the forums. Now that you have decided that you like the nightlords ( who wouldn't like psychotic superhuman ex-convicts ) I'll try and get you a few tips on what would be fluffy for the chapter. First and foremost is raptors, lots and lots of raptors. The only downside to this is that in 5th edition only troops choices will count as scoring and unfortunately raptors are not troops.
For your troops you will likely want just a few squads of basic marines with IoCG and a couple of special weapons, throw in a champion with a fist for good measure and you are set. Rhinos are basically optional at this point though I prefer them.
Otherwise take what you like. Have fun!
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
for a night lord style CSM army list i'd try some raptors and rhino CSM supported by 1 or 2 squads of deepstriking terminators. terminators with combi plasma are a pretty good unit and strike fear in your enemys heart, hiting everything anywhere and annihilate whole squads upon arrival. just try not to use daemon things like posessed, daemon weapons and daemonc posession on tanks. try to give the army a can-hit-anything-anywhere appearence which should freak out your opponent and therefore making your army an incarnation of terror, which is the cool thing with night lords.
Yeah i was planing on just having a small force. acouple of units of chaos marines, same with raptors and a termi squad. I'll build the army up as my friends do but this should do.
I was also thinkin no daemonic units cause like everone knows its just not in keeping with the night lords fluff. Its kinda hard though to sway from this path cause there are some amazing daemonic units, possed marines, defiler and so on. It kinda puts a corck in my butt though cause i wanted to make hand built raptors if i couldnt get my hands on some old style raptors. I wanted to use actual wings like the winged back packs from the possed sprues. Would this count as using the daemonic or would it be like the oblitirators where the warp or is it a disease? kinda fuse technology and biology together? hmm :/
There is another thing i could use a hand with. Chaos lords, we all love them! I know termi lords are amazingly powerfull and insanely resiliant however are the inkeeping with the night lords? or would a jumppack/winged lord be better? Is there away to make them just as deadly as a termi lord?
I play a Night Lord army, and since 4th edition Chaos Codex, they kind of lost their fluff. Still, I like them and will play them again using the new Space Marine Codex. I want them in drop pods . I agree with anyone saying that you'll need a lot of raptors and fast stuff as night lords strike fast and deadly before leaving the place, everyone crying and terrorized.
CHAOS Undiv.: won 14/22 games EC: 4/7 WE: 6/9 DG: 10/15, TS: 3/7 Orks : 13/20 SM NL : 1/6 TAU: 14 of 24 IG: 3/7
Yeah it kinda blowa that the undivided legions have nothing that set them appart but their paint schemes. I guess its just the fluff you hold onto the legions that make you wanna collect.
