Ok, It's been a while since i've played 40k or painted anything, so my chaos space marines are all sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting to smoke some b*tches.
I noticed that a new rulebook came out last year, and i wanted to know what the major differences were between the new one and the previous one?
How are chosen used now?
What's the deal with the 4 marks and having an entire army devoted to a single mark?
Is ahriman still awesome?
Is there any hero that i should get or any units that benefit from the new rules?
Thanks in advance from someone trying to get back into the swing of things.
Chosen are incredibly flexible. They have the most options of any unit in your army. They are the only infiltrators available to you, but they can be set up as hand to hand or shooty or both. Chosen and Terminators are separate entries now.
The four god specific units are now troops without having to take a lord of that mark. Daemon Princes, Lords, Sorcerers, Chosen, Terminators, Possessed, Marines, Raptors, Bikes and Havocs can all take any mark. (except sorcerers and Khorne)
The 5th edition rules aren't out yet, so I can't really say for sure which units are the new 'power units'. However, troops become more important, and chaos has the most awesome troops in the game(in my opinion).
Ok I managed to glance at the codex while i was at the gaming store (no money to buy unfortunately) and i had just another question:
can we use death guard and thousand sons as troop choices in the same army? because that would make my day if i had a line of death guard socking up some damage with a line of thousand sons right behind them.
Yes, you are no longer limited by rivalries among the gods. If you need a fluff loophole to use them together, you can do alpha legion or black legion and youd be able to use all 4 cult troop types. Thats what I'm doing
