I've decided to include a unit of Noise Marines in my chaos army. i'll work on the fluff for it later. what i really want to do is give most if not all of the unit sonic blasters, but the dumb box only comes with 1 of each of their special weapons. anyone know of any places to get just the bits for the sonic blasters? or on how to model them in?
The common thing is to cut the barrel and clip off a bolter, and glue one of the little lion-head things that comes in the chaos vehicle sprue. It's so easy, I can take a couple of pics for you to explain:
ON the top is a real Sonic Blaster - one of my 6, the last thing I ever ordered from GW bitz before it closed... (A royally stupid idea on their part. Don't get me started...) Underneath, a bolter and a little exhaust head from the Vehicle sprue.
Cut the bolter rounds off, cut the barrel off, glue the head on the front, add a couple of guitar strings and although the scale is not quite right, it looks different enough from a bolter that WYSIWYG is ok!!
Do you think I will have a problem using my possessed to represent noise marines? Obviously not in friendly games, but pickup? My models were done before there wer officila ones, so they're regular marines with daemony claw/spike/tentacle arms. For a sonic weapon, all you need is to emmit sound, why couldn't it be like lucious' scream in Fulgrim, but on a whole squad?
thats actually a really good idea! considering that i have a ton of those heads sitting around and will have more after saturday. thanks! *runs off to start converting bolters into sonic blasters*
whats your new idea?
This looks cool...
This is a Devourer from the Tyranid Gaunt sprue. Any Tyranid player on the planet will have some of these. Probably as many as you want. Also shown is the bigger head thing from the Vehicle sprue.
That was easy! Just trim and scrape the tyranid bit, glue the head, and you will be able to blend the rest with paint. I suppose you could fill in the area behind the lion-head in you wanted to, but why bother?
Obviously the scale of this is more in keeping with the original, as well as not needing to add the guitar string.
Remember, anything can be a chaos bit!!
Hope this helps.
the pics from your last post didn't load, but i will definitely check this out when i get home and make what i can. thanks for the help
maybe a bit too biological on the second one.
Get some guitar wire in there, and some metallic pipes, and you're on to a winner.
The spindly arm goign into the shoulder pad isn't very convincing.
But FAR from being a nay sayer, I think it's almost perfect, just needs to have those bits looked at!
look, I'm shouting, see how enthusiatic I am?
