Death Guard – ‘Stats & Rules suit the model’
Marines With An Icon Of Nurgle – ‘They don’t look suitable for representing Death Guard marines’
I’m currently creating an Undead Space Marine army being lead and animated by 5 powerful chaos champion and the deamonic master, I was proud today when I finished the first squad behold…To see full sized image & and the squad’s Rhino CLICK HERE
However something occurred to me although! Using Undead Marines as Death Guard is suitable with the ‘feel no pain’ rule and reduced initiative but they don’t look like Death Guard marines. So I’d like all of your opinions on whether I should use them as Death Guard or just marines with an Icon of Nurgle?
(Keep in mind I go to tournaments with my armies)
It appears you have a force-weapon in there, so I'd play them as "counts-as" Thousand Sons.
Think about it, zombies are slow, and they needed the sorcerer-librarian to raise them.
Plus they're hard to kill, and that can be accounted for by an invulnerable save.
first off those look fantastic. I especially love the banner and the marine on the right who is "roaring with bestial vigor"
I think they look like they would fit into a Death Guard force the best almost like a particularly deadly strain of some disease which nurgle saw fit to share with his chosen faithful.
I chose the "They don’t look suitable for representing Death Guard marines’ "-option.
I did that mainly because of one reason, and that is that they really doesnt look like Death Guard. This is how Death Guard look Death Guard Conversion Kit.
But that doesnt mean you can't use the models as either Plague Marines or CSMs with IoN. This particular unit seems to fit the bill of the latter, especially as one already holds an Icon. You have 10 guys and 2 plasma guns and 1 champ with weird weapon. This can be used any way you like. It's a very good Count's As unit. The weapon can be used as anything and so can the marines.

You could call them Plague Marines if you wanted. With modeling as good as yours, I can't quibble over 'Undead Marine' not being the same as 'Plague Marine'.
The banner does make a good icon. You could go either way in my opinion.

Depends on how you want to spin them. They could be dead marines that are animated by Nurgle and count as plague marines.
Or the could be thousand sons zombies as Lachlaran said.
But I can really see the marines with Icon because they're undead marines led and bound by the power of the icon. Once the icon is killed they slowly decay (and hence lose their toughness bonus)
Great conversion, great paint job, I especially like the one that's roaring and the champion.
You could also spin them as possessed? Don't know if you'd use them in competitive play though
Mate... with models like that.. I don't think anyone's going to quibble your choices for 'counts as'. Just make it clear to the opponent which is which beforehand, and then tell them again because they weren't lsitening the first time, and still staring slackjawed at your miniatures.
Seriously mate, brilliant minis. Reps for you.

Stop being so awesome!!!
I'm with most of the others posting. Use those masterpieces as whatever you feel fits.
Plague Marines? Of course! Zombies are a Plague, and they are Marines.
Chaos Marines with Icon? Well you've got that really well painted banner that could easily be an Icon, and you've got some crazy good Marines, so go ahead!
And I love the Ghost Marines too. Though, at first I thought you had made an entire Marine out of just Green Stuff. Keep up the great modeling.

Just had a look at your Rhino, on that link.... and I have to say... that is amazingly good.
