I was at a league game earlier tonight and was involved(mostly listening) about how some players feel that DP's aren't as good in 5th edition. Being new to chaos i was wondering if any of you guys had a perspective on whether DP's or Lords/sorcs should be the correct HQ choice? Thanks in advance.
Nope, dont agree with this. They still own. Nothing affects them that didn't use to apart from maybe LOS but its harldy as if they are suddenly crap.
"I did my first model at the age of 7"
Wow. When I first read that I misinterpreted it. Bad.
For their price a DP is a steal, their very cheap and very powerfull once in cc.
Still loving them.I usualy hide him behind a Land Raider, now that hevicles are hard as rock you can use them as tought mobile shields. But the Daemon Prince is still very good.
The daemon princes are not as all powerful as they used to be in the old codex 3.5, but they are still super awesome in 4th. They are cheap, can be (should be) made fast, can run, take some cool PP and are monster in combat, able to deal out the pain to infantry AND vehicles walkers. There Eternal warrior status gives them some more resileince against hidden high strength weapons, but this is no reason to charge a large squad of terminators with it.
Yup, they're still good. After extensive testing, though, they're really hard to use as anything other than a fire magnet unless they have wings.

wings should be included, who's going to be scared of a wingless daemon prince?
