World Eaters canon and army list

I've got a question about World Eaters canon/beardiness/fluffiness. As of right now, my troops choices consist completely of Bezerkers. However, it seems a little disadvantaged if they set up camp on an objective armed only with bolt pistols, not to mention that they are supposed to be ravaging through the enemy in close combat. I'm a little torn - it's seems beardy to me for them to guard an objective when they should be mindlessly trying to close with any remaining enemy to slaughter them but then again, two thirds of the games now require troops to capture objectives, something that they can't do if they leave the proximity of the objective to kill more. I know back in the day, GW made some awesome World Eaters armed with bolters and such that would be nice to use. Was this and is this still part of the World Eaters canon (having some longer ranged firepower). I can't believe every single World Eater is a Bezerker. Taking a squad of marines equiped with a Mark of Khorne would almost make them equal to a Bezerker and they would still be armed with a close combat weapon and bolt pistol but they would also have bolters. I don't think I'd go with any heavy weapons but would probably take some flamers/melta guns/plasma guns. What are your guys' thoughts on this?

Well to remain fluffy and khornate what you could do is just add a unit or two or three of regular CSM's with icon of khorne. They are still khornate troops and remains true to your fluff. As for the weapons to not give them any would just be blasphemous but to stay in a truly khornate nature stick with only flamers and plasma guns. The reason I say flamers because the flamer is a very melee combat oriented weapon and the reason for plasma is that berzerkers can take plasma guns. So take your IoK with your CSM's and give them plasmas or flamers because that would keep you fluffy as well as add some substantial fire power to your list.

You could use everything in the CSM codex except the sorcerer, plague marines, noise marines, thousand sons and any icons other than khorne or undivided.

Even then, using the counts as rule, you can still use anything. I have a World Eaters Chaplain using the sorcerer rules and a world eaters apothecary counting as fabius bile.

The worlds your oyster, it really is. With a bit of imagination you can fit anything into a world eaters army.
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.

No they can't. They can take plasma pistols, but not plasmaguns.

Arm your troops with whatever weapon you feel is the best for you. Khorne does have some preferences on how you should make the blood flow, but he's not picky enough to complain about what weapon you're killing with.

Ya Mistakenly typed guns instead of pistols I meant to say Berzerkers can take plasma pistols not the plasma guns, thanks for correcting me.

I use lesser daemons to capture objectives. Squads of 5 are cheap and can hide fairly well.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.

Having lots of Berzerkers is good, but berzerkers are at their best in anihilation games. Berzerkers arn't great for holding objectives, due to their gun range. I'd say for 1500 points 20 berzerkers in transports is enough to assault some guys and claim objectives that are near the opponents deployment zone, but you need 20 or so marines holding objectives too. Terminators are good for contesting the objectives, so that neither you or the enemy can hold the ojbective, but watch out for power weapons against termies.

According to the original, And I mean original concept for the bezerkers. Were that they were a front line elite troop that specialises in close combat.

Now days the bezerkers are the still the elite of khornate armies.
