Is it worth fielding a team of 3 obliterators in, say a 1000-1500 pt game?
I have read up on these guys and they seem to be a good unit for a slugging match. With multiple wounds, good save rolls plus inv save, the ability to change weapons at will, and able to deep strike. I have looked all over for a battle report with a team of obliterators in it but can't find one.
I know they can end up being real slow, with some bad rolls, so my questions is are they worth fielding or is it better to stick with regular chosen terminators with some heavy weapon combos.
They looked pretty solid on paper, but good on paper doesnt always mean solid on the table.
Anyone that has any table experience with these guys, can you share your thoughts?
If this is and old topic and annoys people, then please don't respond. I just found this website so.....
thanks for any help you can offer.
It's an old topic, but anyway yes they're worth it. They have the right weapon for any situation, and can move and fire to some degree. Used for deepstrike, they rock.
Ze titles yez...
When in doubt,

thanks for the info and your time,,,
Oblits are awesome for 70 points! for about 25 more than a termi, you get +1 W, +1 T, weapon morphing plus slow and purposful. I love my lone Oblit, he always does well.
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
they are worth theuire pts but i won't suggest getting three oblits unless your playing Iron warriors.
thanks a ton for the info.
I do use squads of IW in my chaos undivided army.
I play against a lot of Necron armies, so i was looking to use them to deep strike and start hammering away at the lords and immortals, not to mention taking down monoliths. I figured they would be a good strong point unit that will force my opponets to waste a lot of fire on them but survive a lot of it, while the rest of my force closes.
Plus i figured they would be good tyrant hunters, and those annoying arty creatures.
anyways thanks for the info i appreciate it.
They are without a doubt, great versatility on the battlefield and the models just look awesome.
I usually field 3 of them, though in games of 2000+ i may field up to 7 of them
Wait, what?! You use squads of Iron Warriors in your vanilla army? How? And I don't care what anyone says, Obliterators aren't worth it, losing one of these beasties to Lascannons doesn't seem all that useful to me.

Wait, you mean that optimism isn't fashionable anymore?!

Soup's up, bitches!
IW can only have the mark of chaos undivided, i use an undivided army. Why wouldnt i be able to use them?
One lascannon isnt gonna take one of these boys down to easy. They have T 5,
W 2 and inv save 5. yeah they'll get hit and wounded but not instant killed and that lascannon that hit them is going down. And that is the whole point of these guys, to draw fire and pound back.
thanks, i like hearing various ideas about units and their worth.
you can't mix an undivided army with IW, the entire army must be IW, please for god sake read the codex
