Hey everyone, I've just started getting into Chaos and bought myself a Rhino to start out (just something different, I always get troops first ). It's always very difficult for me to choose a legion/klan/chapter etc, and I just need some help.
I recently saw a Chaos, Red Corsairs army in both the 5th edition rulebook (big book), and in the tale of four gamers on white dwarf and really like the look of them!
The problem is, I almost never see ANY Red Corsairs thread on ANY forum, and there never even as an option in the poll question, "which legion?"
So I'm just wondering if theres anything actually wrong with them, which is the reason people never choose them.
They really seem like the only good option for ME, I never like the posterboy army (black legion for chaos, ultra marines for SM etc), so I'm a bit iffy on black legion, I don't really wanna base my army around a god, so death guard, world eaters etc is probably out, so yeah I just need some help ^^
The Red Corsairs aren't a special legion of Chaos.. by "legion," most people refer to the original legions that broke away from the Imperium during the Horus Heresy, such as Iron Warriors, Emperor's Children, etc. The Red Corsairs are just renegade Space Marines, and they are still indeed alive and kicking; if you search these forums you'll probably find some threads about them.
It depends on what you're looking for. There's nothing "wrong" with them - they have no predetermined build, they are basically a fluff/paint scheme choice when it comes to the actual tabletop.
If you can then I'll probably choose them as my army, I just really like the red, gold and black.
I'm sure you could get away with a few of those types of units, though typically the Red Corsairs are Undivided and made up of renegade Space Marines from other chapters, typically with their old insignias marked out by red X's on their armour. Here is some basic fluff on them.
Fluff in the rulebook states that Huron made a deal with some Night Lord marines, maybe he would do the same for some Plague Marines once he saw how effective they could be.
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
i agree with hotspike, huron seems like hes more interested in victory than remaining purely undivided. very different from undivided groups like alpha legion.
though if you do use plague marines or possessed, just to stay fluffy id paint them in their original legion colors (plague marines are death guard, possessed can be word bearers or black legion)
How Did This Get Here I Am Not Good With Computer
Thanks guys, well for the plague marines I honestly think the death guard way is the only way to paint them, as I always confuse all the intestines and stuff with tentacles and mix em up with possessed and most other chaos units
I do like the fluff behind huron suggesting he doesnt really care as much about staying pure undivided so thanks for that!
