I wanted to hear other's opinions on these units before i just completely remove them from my army.
Screamers: Yes, on paper they look like they are awesome; they're able to get in some early vehicle kills being jetbikes with melta bombs.... however once my screamers made contact with a vehicle I've never actually been able to hit it.
Flesh hounds: These guys could be neat... the first game i played with them was against the blood angels (and my opponent had decided to feild Dante). I may have not chosen my target for these khornedogs well but I charged them into Dante and his squad of veteran assault marines in hopes of slowing them down/softening them up... that squad wiped the floor with me. I believe if i try this unit again, i will need to support it with another unit, perhaps daemonettes or bloodletters.
Flesh Hounds are not meant to tango with Dante, they excel at running down light to medium infantry, weakened units, shooty units, and the like.
I had a super shooty Tzeentch DP that got killed by Hormagaunts, so now I use a Soul Grinder (or 3)

I think you are have some very bad luck. Most gunline tanks won't move so you will auto hit them, if they did move you will hit with half your screamers, and if they moved over 6 they will not be much of a threat to your army as far as shooting. Screamers are best vs land raiders and with the release of the new marines it seems alot of LRs are around. The better thing is the fact your opponent will keep moving his vehicles as long as you have screamers taking away shots they would normally have because if he doesnt and your screamers get to them they will most likely be dead.
How many screamers are you using?
Wait now, you can't really judge the effectiveness a unit after only 1 game... play a few more, really
been using five screamers... Its been a while since my last game with them, but I think I may have gotten the shaft with the rules, apparently we all must have forgotten that one auto-hits stationary vehicles (that or my opponent moved his tank one inch just to deny me the auto-hit... can't remember).
Well, even with 5 you should have gotten 2-3 hits and even average rolls= 15 to hit vehicle and outside of a landraider you will be hitting av10 so should have rocked the vehicle. The only trouble you have is if the go cruising speeds but outside of a fast vehicle will not let them fire at you so if it just wants to run it won't be shooting either.
Agreed, I have been running 5 screamers and I love them, also remember they can turbo boost and contest an objective late in the game making it seem like an opponent has something claimed for sure only to find out you are on them. Or like mentioned just keep them vehicles running scared because if you get to them something will likely be dying.
I like to run my DPs Tzeentch with BoC and wreck units right before charging into CC. Nurgle would be nice like this too, it just costs a little more though you take less wounds with a worse save. to me it's 6-half dozen for diff pts. Plus if I have extra pts I will get gaze too and add into the carnage before CC.
Daemonette can suck if you don't have enough, otherwise
do units of 3 screamers work? has anyone tried? or is it too easy for KP missions?
Everyone is corrupted by Chaos, myself more than others!
3 Screamers won't be that good. 5 is the minimum because they have to spend a turn stationary when they arrive, and they are most likely going to get shot by something.
Also, 5 works out better for the averages because you have a decent chance of killing those high AV vehicles even if only 1 screamer gets his attacks in.
Fantasy: Daemons (Angels), 40k: Black Templars
If 5 aren't working for you, then maybe you should try two units of 5. As long as one kills a tank or two they've both made back more than their points. Honestly I used to be very against screamers, but I'm starting to warm up to them now. The next list I'm going to try has 2 units of 5 along with 3 units of 3 flamers, a LOC, and 3 DPs of tzeentch, 2 units of 10 pbs with icons, and 3 units of 10 BLs. I'm not quite sure how it ended up being so tzeentch themed when I didn't intend for it to be...
