This is my first 40K post...
Any advice on building a budget daemon army? i was just starting a slaaneshi themed army, and the daemonettes leave a lot of xtra parts... so i thought maybe modeling the bases to represent the things materialising from thin air, like daemonette claws growing from the armoured walls of a space ship, or piercing from the chest of a IG soldier (i have a lot of spare models and bits i'll never use)... i also thought about using that box of WFB Wood Elf Dryads to represent a unit of Daemonettes from the Gardens of the Prince of Pleasure... Any advice?

First of all, Welcome to the Chaotic world of Future. You'll find that the universe has been taken over by aliens, and human kind is in war with everybody, on every front of there Empire.
LOL, back to the topic.
Warhammer, as you know, is a game of fun. so If you wanna convert your models, don't ask anyone's permission.
Just take care of what you do. You do not want people to keep asking you.... eerhm, WHAT are those again?
For the rest, You can do what you want. I am currently converting a Fiend of slaanesh from a tyranid ravener. It looks great, and is a lot cheaper!. All I need is a good head.
Also, Ive converted Seekers from Goblyn spider riders Spiders, with the upper body of a Daemonette.(though that wasn't very cheap...)
But, I do not know what kind of army you played, but if you have goblins, you could very easly make Plaguebeares, for example...
If you want ideas, Post what kind of bitz you have, and what kind of units you want. Helps in letting the creativety flow
I've seen undead players in Fantasy do something similar, using half models to represent Skellies/zombies rising from the grave. If done well it looks neat and is a good way to save some moolah.
Lucky for you, Daemonettes are in plastic and you can make normal 'nettes and Heralds from them. Seekers and Fiends are trickier, you'll have to convert, suck it up and pay, or scour eBay for some good deals. I'll be making plastic Seekers out of Daemonettes and plastic Gobbo spiders, and you can probably make Fiends out of the plastic Chaos Spawn kit.
Or, if you want to be really cheap, make a sprue daemon army. I'm still working on the lesser daemons but I intend to make a full army out of nothing but sprues and random bits. I've already got a metric ton of sprue lying around and I'd have extra even after making terrain so I think it's a good project.
You've probably thought of this already... But one way to make your army cheaper, is to make an army where each model costs a lot of points. I don't know if Daemons have wargear, but I guess they have gifts or something... So give them a lot of those!
Signatures are annoying. Here's right back at ya!
Along those lines, you could just get a couple of Chaos Spawn kits, model them up, and call them anything you want. Remeber, Daemons don't have true forms, what you see is what the mortals dream up to explain the forms of raw chaos, and who is Games-workshop to tell us what every single person sees? That's starting to be my favorite part about Daemons, you can do anything you want with them and still be justified by the fluff.
I'm too lazy to come up with a witty sig.
I agree with many of the posts here as far as fluff and what not, but I would say try to make your stuff look similar or at least obvious as to what it is supposed to be. If I sat down to play you and you had to literally tell me what each unit and model represented because it wasn't clear in some way, I would probably find someone else to play. The thing about WYSIWYG is while it's required for tournaments and such, it is nice for your oppenent to more or less know what to expect.
just as Me said, the idea is from fantasy undead, as the vampires can just summon some undead in the middle of the battle. i dislike using point wise expensive models and i'm used to hordes (old orks, now goblins in WHFB, and a dislike for the herohammer type of game with just a few models and a 400 or so points worth HQx2) i want to use many models, (slaanesh for troops HQ and elite, screamers in fast and Slaaneshi princes in heavy support, as slaanesh models are kind of cheap point wise and have a potential to look very nice and disturbing, IMHO)... but i worry about the what you see rule, since i want to joim just about any tourny i can... here in croatia i can use dwarves as seekers in casual play, for all my friends care is that the base is right and that they know what is what. So i am looking for a way to convert daemonettes without spending loads of $$$... but keep them recognizable at the same time for all the other players and judges.
I made my generic nonmasque herald from the floating wood elf sorceress, turned out pretty sweet so i thought to make her the 'gardenwarden of slaanesh' with some converted and slaaneshi painted dryads counting as her bodyguard daemonettes... (there's a lot of ex wood elf players here so the dryads and bits are quiet cheap). i have an Eldar avatar wich i planned to turn into a corrupted version of himself with some DE bits representing Slaanesh's thirst for the god Khaine. (counts as daemon prince? i guess hehe) the rest would be daemonettes jumping out of the warp in bits and pieces, along with some fiends... how do you convert them from the spawn box and how many can u make from one box? screamers... i'll have to buy those i guess... still not sure what other herald to take and what other HQ to take (i don't want to loose every game, any advice what units could nicely support fiends, daemonettes, masque, 3xDaemon prince, screamers?)
i thought about taking a herald of tzeench to get some anti tank power in there...

anyone know what to use and how to convert up some cheap bloodcrushers?
Hmmm... Bloodcrushers could be some arbitrarily large khornate daemons or something like a bloodletter fused with something else. A fiend of slannesh idea I had, for example, was maybe buying some ravenors and a box of 'nettes and combining them- that could also work for seekers. For fleshhounds there's plenty of cheap dog units now- chaos warhounds and dire wolves for example.
For bloodcrushers specifically... you could probably convert some ogres to be suitably daemonic, or combine some steeds with bloodletters for sorta centaur bloodletters, or you can convert a treekin or something to look more like a blood golem thing with plenty of skulls. You could probably even just toss a bunch of armour-ish bits on bloodletters and call them super elite bloodletters that use the bloodcrusher rules. The sky's the limit.

I like that idea, like the cyberdemon from Doom only exceptionally Khornate.
