    Chaos....

Well, been thinkin about a chaos list for a while now. And as of yet the fluff is undetermined. However, I would like it to be infantry based. 12+ Man squads, obliterators, terminators, daemon princes, chosen etc. Also, one thing I'm thinking of, for fun, is fitting as much plasma as I can into the list .

Now do we think a list with that many infantry Chaos Marines would work. I'm thinking about 50 sloggers

Well, I brought my younger brother back into the hobby by giving him all my Battleforce "leftovers" (i.e., Berserkers), and he's doing quite alright with an infantry mob focus. His 2k list generally looks like:

(some of this stuff gets swapped out)
    ~40 Zerkers
    Khorne Lord w/ Daemon Weapon
    2 Oblits
    5-6 Khorne termies
    various Havoks

A defiler, a dread, and the occasional rhino make their way into the list from time to time.

Its not the best army, but its a real pain to face.

although plasma is good, i think smaller squads with a heavy bolter or two is a good idea also, I reserve most plasma for chosen, so they can come in from the side, double tap and then either get blown to pieces after wiping an entire unit out, or charge in and kick ass.

Zerkers with plasma pistols along with a demon prince/LOS getting the enemy in the right spot for shooting then assaulting usualy works pretty well.

Just have to work out the fluff why Zerkers would work with a psycher DP
Maybe they were lobatimized a bit to much?
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
    Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
    Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)

Well now, with 3 squads of Vets with 5 Plasmaguns each, 2 squads of Troops with 2 Guns and one pistol each, That's 19 Plasma Guns and 2 pistols.

And at least 3 Obliterators, to add 3 Plasma Cannons...

Don't forget a Lord, and he could have a plasma pistol, bringing the totals to 54 guys, 38 rapid-fire shots, 3 templates, and 3 pistols. Every round. ~Evil Cackle~

Or, instead of Vet squads, you could have maxed-out Terminator squads, and everybody could have a Combi-plasma, bringing down the wrath of 30 combis, and therefore 60 Plasmagun shots...

I know Rhinos can take combi flamers and meltas, but I don't remember about combi-plasma... I don't have my Codex in front of me, but there is a few more plasma shots.

Righty then, now I have been thinking about the big squads. Now, by taking bigger squads I am gimping my ability to take PFs, Special weapons etc, so do 10 man footsloggers work? I would do 12, but that's only for my Word Bearers

Also, are heavy weapons usable? I have never used them on CSM outside havocs. Or Noise Marines.

Thanks for the replies Keep em coming

Big squads have a quality all to themselves - with the Basic CSM's stats, it's VERY powerful.

They are harder to hide in/with cover, and manuvering them can be tricky. But imagine the carnage as they advance, and once they assault.. ~mu ha ha ha!~

Heavy weapons can work, BUT, do you want to loose movement on 15 or twenty guys just so a missile can fire? Oblits are better.
