Hey all, I've only ever played Daemon Hunters, and I'm starting my Guard army shortly. But I've been considering having a force (even a small one) so that I can play on the opposite side of the table when my club does big games (imperials vs otherwise) and the chaos models really appeal to me. How would you veterans suggest I build up say, a 1000 point force? Please be creative.
You need to give a LOT more information than that for us to help. Chaos can go in several, very different directions. If you want something that plays very differently from Imperial Guard, a couple Berzerker squads in Rhinos backed up by a small gunline would be reasonable in 1,000 points. Put a Bloodfeeder Lord in just for laughs!

Right, a bit of information first.
Do you want infantry based ot mechanised?
Do you want CC or shooting?
Fluff or effectiveness?
Few models or numerous?
Basically any information that could help.

lol, god i love our versatility.
Take my words with a grain of salt, i am not the tactical genius i think i am!
Your obligatory FOC minimum is a good place to start.
2. Non-GD HQ model of your choice.
Whichever you feel is most "Chaotic".
3. Daemons/ Defiler, etc.
Fill-out the list using Units that are Chaos-specific.
Good luck, and have fun.
