Just wondering how many people in there army lists use a greater daemon or 2 heralds (or perhaps both in the big enough list).
Was that the boogey man?
In larger games (2000 pts) I prefer a GD for it big stompy MC powers, otherwise I stick with cheapo Heralds. It's largely a matter of personal preference, MCs or not to MCs. I can get 2, 3, even 4 Heralds for the price of one properly equipped GD and fit in a lot more Troops too and if I'm not running any MCs I don't feel the need to field a GD. The exception to this is a GUO, as you can throw him into any list and he'll do well thanks to his extra survivability and low cost.

For me, it depends on the size of the army. Normally I run 1 or 2 heralds, but I've also run 1 herald and a greater daemon in 1250 points Was a bit too overpowerd imo

Khorne = Greater Daemon
Nurgle = Greater Daemon
Slsanesh = Greater Daemon
Tzeentch = Heralds on chariots
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
I think a greater daemon is the best. They got plenty of staying power and is a monster for your opponet to meet. Much better then two heralds even if in a 2000p game you could use both options.
For me, Tzeentch has been an all-or-nothing, no matter what way you go with this. If Heralds, minimum 2, better off with 4 on chariots and no other upgrades. (65 points for a 5 wound model with a 3x 5/3 good range daka? Yes please.)
On the other hand, the combo of a tricked out LoC and Fateweaver is disgusting at 1500 points or higher. Opponents look at you in disbelief as they try and wound the nightmare flying towards them and never do.
ive gotta vote for greater daemons, heralds are okay but imo not really worth the points especially when stacked up against the GDs. I played a couple of games with a herald of slaanesh which didnt really do much even though it got some good oppertunities to wail on the enemy, but my Great unclean one on the other hand can just wade through squad after squad all on its lonesome, very much worth every point
..oh and i suppose that heralds with chariots look okay stat wise but without a proper model, an easy way to convert one or even a legal base size im reluctant to use them...
Order of the Wild Rose - gettin' pawned since 2008,
Callidus assassins current top score - 205 pts (silly terminators)
Really depends on the army. In my Epidemius list I run a GUO or even Ku'Gath at 2000 pts. In my mostly Khorne list I run 1 Herald on a Juggernaut and a TON of Bloodletters/Crushers. In my Fateweaver list I either run another LoC or a Bloodthirster so no Heralds there.
I'd have to say Heralds are incredible for their points and I would never, ever take Bloodthirster over two Heralds of Khorne, but that's just IMO. However, I would take the Lord of Change and/or Fateweaver at 1750 and 2000 points, maybe lower just for fun.
Khorne Heralds are one of my favorite units in the whole book, they're totally overpowered for the cost.
Got my Khorne Herald on Juggernaut in the mail the other day... mmmm. That with a pack of Bloodcrushers will last longer and do much more damage than a Bloodthirster vs. any opponent that knows what they're doing.
