One effective list
Lots of models/list changes game to game
Just wondering out of curiosity if people build a specific army or have a wide varity of models they switch in and out. I have a big mix it seems of everything but i read alot of other people playing a specific list. I like to think in a way that the theeme of chaos is just that, chaos. A giant mess of all kindes of stuff that cunfuses the hell out of the apponent. I keep thinking of leaning towards straight up lists of x amount of csm's 2 tanks, prince etc but its just seems fun and effective to constantly mix it up.
Since the legions and a ton of extra crap was taken away from us, you have to be more flexable and have more units to throw around.
There are still the few staples to almost every army, at least 1 squad of plague marines to hold points and a DP with LoS being the most common.
The last few games I've been playing is with my 1500 tourney list, trying out different tactics with it. But even that, while it's tried and true, still gets a few tweeks now and again.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
33% of my army is always the same (2 1k sons squads), 33% of my army is relatively unchanged (minor tweaks etc), and the remainder changes depending on what sort of game I feel like playing - infantry only, mechanised, centred around a super termy squad etc
Be nice to your enemies, it will make them madder!
I have a lot of units and tend to switch it up every now and then. Only thing that has stayed the same is Tzeentch DP with Wings, Warptime and Bolt of change combo, and some palgue marines.
If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.
Well, I tend to have multiple effective lists written up, so I have plenty of spare models to swap in/out.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
I go for one list because it means I can focus my modelling & painting time more effectively. There are tons of nice units out there but unless I decide what I want ahead of time I would chop & change too much to get anything done.
Ultimately when I have a few thousand points I can then try different lists, but until I complete the first 1500pts I make my list and stick to it.
My prob right now is i have about 3-4 thousands points in models and im looking at more. Id like to start doubling up what i have but at the same time i keep thinking that i am going overboard with spending on this game. Mind you i only spend a bit every few months.
I have a ton of models (about 5k in points), and in my lists the only guy that doesent change is my Daemon prince (Tzeentch+warptime+wind combo).I sometimes take random things just to spice the gameplay a little bit (winning is not my goal, I tend to have fun )
I normally build an army with an effective armylist... only to find that changing some things around might make it more effective, or I might get the feel to try out another type of unit or swap my weapon options around. So I suppose you could say that I build one effective armylist and then expand from there as I like trying out new things.
