    Gearing my chosen

Ok, I'm gonna take a chosen squad and im pondering what to give them, Im gonna give them plasmas, it just depends on what i give the one character that can have a heavy. It also occured to me to take a P fist in case i get into combat. Suggestions? This unit will have mark of nurgle so you know.

If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.

I voted for 4 plasmas and a fist because this seems like a very Nurgly combination. Also, in order to be most effective, you should get your chosen in close to use rapid-fire, which means yes, you will likely get into close combat, so that fist will be quite useful.

I don't know, the plasma gun is not a assault weapon so you will be sitting in front of the enemy after rapid fire. The power fist will get only one attack (unless he's a champ, but that doesent make alot of change), so the unit will be practicaly doomed.I would run a pure close combat chosen squad or a pure shooty squad.Once a 5man 5 plasma gun squad prooved usefull by taking down a destroyer squad ( thank you outflank).Getting back on the topic, I don't realy like mixing assaulti close combat weapons with rapid fire ones.

Of the options I said 4 plasma and the Fist. Keep the heavy weapons out of the squad as they will need to keep moving so the heavy weapon will more than likely be wasted. Id view the fist more as a defensive option than a offensive option-4 plasma is shooty so the squad should aim is to avoid combat where possible.

    EDIT:
Who is the fist on? A champion or a normal marine? If its a normal marine drop it-its not worth it and give it to a champion instead.

What role do you intend this unit to fulfil?

I want them to infiltrate into some cover enar the enemy and shoot blast them to bits with obscene amounts of firepower, Im giving them Mark of nurgle to take being shot back.

I dunno, I think it all depends on the size, I ran a 8-9 man chosen squad to run the flank with 4 plas and a fist and although sometimes it was perfect, other times it was a point sink where they come in and can only really target one squad that is almost dead, and the rest of the game they spend trying to catch up with the enemy.

I think best to keep it simple with 4 flamers and a fist/power weapon at the least but I try to test lots of different ways like meltas and flamer and sometimes mass power weapons.

If im getting that close id rather use meltas or better yet rapid fire plasma, I go up against either Terminators heavy and/or tank heavy SM, so that High S high AP will come in handy.

It's expensive as all heck, but I give my Chosen of Slaanesh four Dual Lightning Claws and a Melta Gun.

    Talk about devastation...

    Tyranids - 15,000+ points

Aye, but as you already said, its VERY expensive, and tat one squad still dies just as easily.
